Obama is up in some polls, down in others. But in all of them, the changes are within the polls margin of error and, therefore, of no statistical significance. So Obama has been neither harmed nor helped by his handling of the shutdown. The GOP, on the other hand, is down by numbers well outside the margin of error. Clearly, the GOP is losing this battle. Whether this stunning defeat for the GOP in today's opinion polls translates to electoral losses remains to be seen. The public, it seems, has a short memory and a forgiving spirit.
Finally, someone who freakin' understands the proper use and context of political polling.
Approval ratings well under 50 percent ain't good tho the POTUS is doing a bit better than the Repubs. IF Obama's rating was higher than 50; that'd be a different thing.
Even Wolf Blitzer of CNN has abandoned Obama and said he should have waited a year before bringing out Obama care. If he lost Wolf, he has lost America.

Yet, approval of Obamacare is up regardless of Wolf's personal opinion.

Now this is hilarious. Wolf Blitzer does not speak for America. He never has. You may have been able to make a dubious claim during the 1991 Gulf War, but certainly not now. No one watches CNN. He ain't Cronkite.
