But that poster didn't say "stable relationship" etc. The question was how will the single parent feed the children --- and that's the whole problem.
I don't think too many people really care that much as long as the single mother doesn't end up living off welfare handouts the rest of her life -- but very very many do. It's one thing if the mother can actually support her fatherless children, certainly setting an example and teaching a work ethic is included in child rearing.
The rising number of single mothers has much to do with the skyrocketing welfare rates.
You are exactly right. Some have baby after baby that they can't support....yet abortion is out of the question.

What's the point in conceiving children you only intend to have killed? With all the thousands of birth control products and sterilization, why do you somehow think abortion is the only way to not have babies you can't afford? Is there some desire to just become pregnant and then snuff out the life of your little one?
Besides abortion is legal and the number of babies born to welfare mothers has only skyrocketed. Abortion is obviously not solving the problem.

I am just saying abortion should be an option. You can't be pro life and then complain about the women who have multiple kids who are on welfare.

It is though. The southern states have the most single moms, OOW births, and teenage pregnancy, but they are religious and don't believe in abortion as much as people in the NE. Teen pregnancy isn't much different in NY and MS, but people in NY are more likely to get an abortion and continue getting an education - that's not the case in the south.
The whole problem is that so many people have entirely lost a work ethic.
Having baby after baby shouldn't mean a life of never working.
So you are stereotyping. You know we use to live in a country where a family only needed one parent to work to support a family which allowed the other parent to stay home to help with raising the kids. Now young parents both need to work to barely keep afloat, and somehow they are at fault for seeking aid.

Typically flawed liberal thinking.
A woman gets knocked up and either has to punish the unborn child (abortion) or punish taxpayers (welfare).
How about responsibility (the ultimate four-letter word to liberals)?
And Feminism. Feminists think of men more as an INCONVENIENCE.
So sad.

Well,actually men are an inconvenience.
These women ain't making babies by themselves.
Why can't the men step up to the plate and marry the mothers of the kids?
All I see on this thread is women-bashing.
But,the OOW rate isn't a problem. If these women educate themselves and earn higher wages, than its a moot point about poverty.
Check out Scandinavian OOW rates.
I know quite a few parents who have postponed marriage for one reason or another. With the divorce rate so high, I think most of them just have cold feet. Anywho, none of my business. As long as they provide for their children, I don't care.
