"The Obama Administration sent out the Metropolitan DC police to forcefully remove or arrest aging military veterans from their own monuments.
The cops were out in force armed with guns, stun guns, clubs, tear gas and riot helmets. When it came to the point of the veterans refusing orders to disperse or to discontinue their dismantling park service barricades the cops simply backed off of their mission and allowed the veterans to carry on."
God bless those policemen. Would have been a travesty to arrest those brave old soldiers who gave us our freedom
Stephanie, I watched the encounter between the vets and the police. The police inserted themselves between the vets and the WH fence. There were discussions taking place that I couldn't hear, but I heard vets reminding the police that their oath was to the Constitution and that they were peaceful. At one point, the police just left from the WH fence. When I saw the police in riot gear and the mounted patrol and the armored car, I thought that the response was WAY out of line. Why do you think that the police would withdraw their position? I thought it strange that they left.
Ah the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia is not a federal law enforcement agency but rather part of the District of Columbia city government, so why would Obama be issuing orders to a Department that he has no authority over, nor has jurisdiction over national parks and monuments within the District?

What has ever stopped Obama from ordering things he has no authority to do? Nothing.
That is standard turn out gear for any protest in D.C. Even the horses have body armor and ballistic goggles.
Wish they had come out when Occupy camped at the Mall. How many days were they allowed to camp there with no hindrance? By the way, just why does the Dems and Obama love Occupy so much?
As a veteran, I have to point out that not all veterans have the sense of entitlement as the folks who broke down these barricades. Most of us are proud that we served, yet civil.
