Yes I understand...You reserve the right to take money from hard working people to pay for health care for those who don't work..I don't agree, but sadly I get the selfish attitude of many Canadians.

I would tend to think the "latter"!
So you think it's a moral obligation to take my money to pay for your health care? Your have a strange view of morals.

Most of the people that do not work are in that position through no fault of their own.......Do you care to explain how a society that treats all citizens equally when it comes to health care is in any way selfish? It is people like you who have a look after #1 first and screw the unfortunate, that are selfish.

Perhaps taking care of yourself so others don't have to could be considered moral, huh? Why, there might even be enough of your taxes left over to take care of others who need it for one reason or another. But by all means, Sanspeur, feel free to contribute all your excess to the cause lest you be labeled selfish, or worse.

My country is a great country. Rich in natural and human resources. Being a citizen of this great country means that you get to share in the bounty the country has been given. Therefore my answer to the question posed is none of the above. Healthcare and good access to it here is recognized as a universal human RIGHT in Canada. The fact the richest nation on earth does not see it this way makes the USA very unexceptional.

I do believe it is morally right in a community perspective. In some things society needs should trump individual needs. For example....your local school district, fire dept, etc you pay taxes for a new school or to educate other kids that aren't your own. As a society it is beneficial that all kids get an education. It shouldnt be based on income. Why should one kid have less advantage than another kid just because of his parents income. I look at health care the same way. It isnt like you arent paying for it anyhow as someone who is uninsured comes in for a medical emergency they are treated and costs absorbed by the insurance company and passed on to the insurers.
