Parents Have Their Party-Throwing Kids Arrested - Mom, dad come home a day early, you know what happens next

When I first saw the headline I thought Whew! You go parents! But then I thought...hmm Glastonbury, sounds a little richy. Kind of cool to have the privilege of engaging in firm-handed parenting by having your bratty little darlings arrested by the police

My wife had the local cop go and pick up my daughter when she tried shoplifting a candybar at the local convenience store.

She never tried shoplifting again.

Spanking them seems more reasonable and doesn't cost any tax dollars.

Their own kids? What's wrong with these parents? They called the cops on their own kids? I call bs on that. This is the nanny-state epitomized, letting the cops discipline your kids for you.

I think spanking is weird and uncivilized. But I bet there are some parents who don't live in richy neighborhoods who wouldn't trust the police to be their disciplinary partners.

Anyone who calls the cops on their own kids must really hate them. Cops are immoral thugs.

Calling the cops on your own kids can reduce the parent's liability.

Parents are held responsible in many states for underage drinking that occurs on their property.

If you're in a small town and no charges are filed that is great idea but if the result is going to be arrest of the kids that's a whole other ballgame. Calling the cops on your kids with the expectation they will be cited or arrested should be the absolute last resort such as if you have a way out of control teenager that is hazard to themselves or others.

Ma and Pa need to lay the lay down but the child needs to know they will defend them from others. That to me is a sacred trust and calling the cops on your own kids is breaking that trust.

Who cares... if I murdered someone I know for a fact my Father would willingly admit he did it. The other side of that ss when I was in trouble as a kid if I had choice between the cops or Dad I would have chosen the cops.
