yes
1. prego youth wearing not so nice clothes walks into a high end store
2. buys a 2500 handbag with a debt card WITHOUT A NAME ON IT
3. is a student with a part time job
lots of red flags
Pregnancy is not a red flag.
Being a student is not a red flag, and in fact ... you wouldn't know someone is a student unless you investigated them.
Nice try, but we know where you get your "red flags."

In fairness, you are correct about #1 and #3.
It's pretty certain that #2, which you omitted is what triggered the interest at least to some degree.
I really don't understand why people are still beating this horse. At this point there is enough evidence to warrant lawsuits and investigations into the actions but insufficient evidence to know whether they were racially motivated and nobody here can state anything more than this unless they've gotten inside information.
3 cheers for the civil tort system where both this gal and the belt buying young man will get their day in court.
Both situations appear to be clear cases of profiling. Whether being based on race or appearance.
If a customer is willing to spend $350 on me, let alone $2,500, there's know way I'd ever do anything to try to demean that person.
Barney's can probably expect to lose some business.
As previously posted, Barneys has been a big target for fraud with 47 cited arrests for such.
I don't see how anyone can claim the purse incident is a "clear case" of profiling given the "no name" debit card. The belt incident is vastly clearer.
This whole thread is turning into Trayvon - Zimmerman part 2. 90% of the people have already made up their minds prior to getting all the facts.
This thread is just a rohrshack test at this point.

It is a clear case.
The card went through.
If they didn't check for ID or do their own investigating then its THEIR fault, not hers.
What evidence did they have that she was trying to defraud them? None what so ever.

Zimmerman was guilty as hell.
How do you match ID to a card with no name on it?
Oh, I have no doubt that they profiled the gal....but what was the criteria? We don't know that for sure yet.
I'd highly suggest reading up on the various retail fraud schemes going on in the US, it's enlightening. A number of organized crime rings actually prey upon desperate young people to become "credit mules" etc. thus wrecking their credit for a hundred bucks or so while the ring pockets many times that amount.
Very young people buying higher end items like this are indeed profiled as credit mules (see the 47 arrests at Barneys). We will find out if the NYPD is racially targeting, I think we can both agree they have a history of doing so, we just don't know if it's the case here 100% yet.
You call the bank to verify the card is indeed hers. Thats exactly what you do. I had to do it many times before for credit cards and checks. Its not that hard. But you don't sell a suspect a 2500 dollar bag and then decide to call fraud on her. All this before you even verified that this is even the case.
No wonder Barneys have been ripped off so many times.
We see once again how American blacks have a tendency to internalize every little indignity and take it personally. No other group, not even immigrant Caribbean or African blacks, do this. The Democrats count on this perpetual victimization to keep black Americans voting Democrat across the board even though it's their liberal policies that's doing the most damage to the urban black community.

White males are profiled whenever a serial killer is on the loose. Are you against that profiling?
