Clapper is essentially a spy chief and I'm still not entirely sure about Snowden's motives. So I guess it's a push. I'll know more when the cards down the river get flipped.
Maybe if we just didn't wet ourselves at the very thought of terrorism and came up with better methods of preventing it, then maybe this massive program wouldn't be necessary since angering our allies seems counterproductive.

Neither one would be my guess. I don't trust Clapper or any spy chief (by the very nature of their occupation) and I am not naive to believe that Snowden had pure motives. I do believe, despite his true motives, the world will benefit from Snowden's actions more so than Clappers as a spy chief.
Clapper, Feinstein, Gen Alexander are all lying to the public about what they "don't know". Snowden showed the world they are lying. The government is corrupt to the core with "I didn't know".
I think everyone in this administration has been caught lying on several occasions except maybe the janitor. This current administration is the largest collection of scum in the history of the US. Thanks to Snowden the world now knows that the US spies on friends and foe alike, supporters, and even their own citizens.
Snowden exposed these bums for what they are. Snowden is a hero.
