Well the Fed will have a choice. Start cutting the fat out of their operating budgets or make cuts in services. There is not a Department of the fed that doesn't have excess fat. Some have a lot. Dept of Defense. Maybe a few less Golf courses on those Airforce bases?
EPA: Do they really need a SWAT Team?
In the case of food stamps. Anyone who believes there is no fraud or abuse is naive to put it mildly. A family of 4 that can't feed themselves on $800 a month???? Necessity is the mother of invention. I firmly believe that many will simply have to cut out some of the goodies in their lives or find additional income like a second job.
So the solution to address fraud is across the board cuts to punish innocent people, what percentage does fraud constitute, $1B, $3B? Maybe they should go after people abusing the program?
It is fraud.. when I see foodstamp recipients buying expensive food it is fraud.. those that work for a living buy cheaper food because they have to . It isn't free to them. Plus they have to pay for their housing and their phones, and their health care..so the working people have to shop smart and keep expensive foods out of their carts.
The recent growth in SNAP spending is temporary. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) predicts that SNAP spending will fall as a share of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in coming years as the economy recovers and the Recovery Act provisions end. SNAP is expected to return to 1995 levels as a share of GDP by 2019. Over the long term, SNAP is not growing faster than the overall economy and thus is not contributing to the nation’s long-term fiscal problems. It is not its responsibility to run such a program in the first place and it is immoral to do so.
Most do have those luxuries, you cannot prove otherwise.
It is immoral to feed the poor? Why do I get the feeling you have no problem with Medicare and SS.

Well number one, who defines what poor even is and two, the money used to fund such programs comes from the paychecks of those who have no choice but to surrender it up on pay day (theft). So no its not immoral to feed the poor, its just immoral to feed the poor with goods you stole from someone else.
Contrary to what your inaccurate instinct tells you,I do have a problem with medicare and ss and its time to let people opt out of those schemes.

How is medicare a scheme. My father would have died a long time ago without it.
It's just easier to blame the poor, the working poor, the disabled and kids, than the farm subsidy welfare kings and queens, the military industrial complex welfare kings and queens and the tax dodging wealthy with bizarre tax loopholes. Just find the right talking point to demonize the group without the leverage.

The reduction for a family of 4 receiving $660 a month [$165 per person] is $32 That's a 'deep' cut? It's 4.8% The official name of food stamps is SNAP as in S for supplemental and not O for only. And let's not forget the free lunch at school.
