Enough of this lesser of 2 evils- neither one is lesser anymore.

Some aspects of the libertarian movement have been effective, such as Cato Institute. And where libertarians have been able to ally with liberals and conservatives such as respectively the war on drugs, and the war on guns. The Libertarian Party itself has been completely ineffective.
Milton Friedman argued that the Socialist Party was the most influential party of the 20th Century. First their ideas influenced the Democrats and later the Republicans until by the 60's most of the Socialist Party platform of 1924 had been enacted.

True. It's still a vote for evil. As you have said, and I've stated before... 2 sides of the same coin. I believe we're on the same page.

The libertarian party has one decided disadvantage that will keep it from becoming mainstream.
Libertarianism requires a minimal level of intelligence and education that sadly the vast majority of Americans lack.

In order for libertarianism to gain popular support, it would first require the complete overhaul of the public educational system which is dominated by liberal democrats.

Democrats learned long ago that their existence and growth depended on the indoctrination of the children in the propaganda of liberalism. Their stranglehold on the educational system is absolute and will prevent the kind of critical education that would be necessary to enlighten people to the logic and legal arguments which are the foundations of the libertarians.

Yup and voting for either one doesn't really matter because Presidents are selected, not elected.
I went third party in 2004 for national elections and have voted that way since. I'm only hoping for that 5% though because change has to start somewhere and getting 5% of the vote means that party gets their foot in the door.

This, quite simply, is not a libertarian country. Period.

Such facts as these are quickly discarded by thought experiments that lead to premeditated conclusions. The problem with Libertarians is that they are typically the least likely to form a collective body of people with a common belief to even form such a party. That is why W.F. Buckley quipped at the irony of the Ayn Rand collective and its demagoguery. It is proof alone that, as a general principle, lack of cooperation fails.

This may be true - but electing a 3rd party (the Libertarians have the best shot at it in recent history) is the main goal. This shatters the duopoly of our dysfunctional two party system and helps pave the way to real choice on election day. Once a 3rd party becomes a viable force, it opens the doors for more parties. Yes, coalitions will have to be formed, but that happens even today with liberal, moderate and conservative factions. This way, one party doesn't get hijacked by one group of people and it can remain true to it's platform - and so can we - the people - stop voting for the lesser of two evils and just simply vote our conscience.
