In the hours before his victory, Christie explained to CNN's Jake Tapper why his efforts should be a model for Republicans. "I think the party cares more about winning the argument than winning the election, and if you don't win elections, you can't govern," he said in words that should be plastered on the door of every state Republican headquarters.
Ideological purity doesn't win elections.

Well that was a laughable post from you, if you think the only extremists in American politics are all of the Democrats, then you must be a proud member of the far right wing extremists who think everyone to the left of them is a Democrat extremist.
Jersey is still a leftist stronghold, they just happen to like Christie over a woman who was basically an unknown in Jersey politics. Had it been Booker running against Christie, it could have been a different story.

I'm not predicting anything. You are. I'm pointing out that a party that wants to write the nation's policies needs to be supported by the majority in that nation. Ideological purists NEVER have that kind of support.

This would be an example of a problem. When you lose an election, you don't call the people who voted for the other candidates "mental midgets". You try to figure out what motivated the people who voted for the other candidates to vote as they did, and what could motivate them next time to vote for your candidate. Politics is a battle for power. Putting down the people who award that power is a strategy for "mental midgets".
If what you say is true they would work for real tax reform which would end the slavish tax on working peoples earned wages which robs the bread they have earned. Keeping this slavish tax alive helps to keep working people dependent upon the Washington Establishment for their subsistence.
