As the NRA would say - the best way to stop an innocent person from knocking on your door is a good guy with a gun. Or was this a bad guy with a gun trying to stop an unarmed person of indeterminate quality?
Gun nuts, please help me understand the best way to spin this.
Actually, your mistaken on just who said, "get yourself a shotgun" give you one guess and NRA wasn't the one who said it. Only uninformed voters would think otherwise......

“Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than
your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away
from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door,”
Biteme
If she was on the other side of the closed door, had not entered his house, and had made no threats to him, then I agree with you.
He should not have shot her, he over reacted, if the story that was given is completely accurate. With so much lame reporting these days, it's hard to tell. But taken at face value, yes, he was definitely in the wrong.
I 100% agree.
It's sad that I have to hold back given the horrible quality of reporting in the US.
If the facts are accurate then yeah, I hope the SOB never sets foot out of a prison the rest of his life.

You got owned. How does it feel to really not have a position, just a party?
Duh, the Mini 14 owners understand how to use the word "an" instead of "as".
If you actually want a serious answer - AR has cheaper mags, better aftermarket parts available and is generally more accurate. The Mini is usually quite a bit cheaper to buy.
Uh oh....don't tell me you are a racist gun owner!
Stupid shooter. Let him deal with the consequences. No need to bring race into this.
