I am surprised at the sheer number of people against just requiring labeling so buyers know what is in products. Its a known fact that large portions of the food industry puts stuff in their foods to make it addictive, just like tobacco, the fact that they don't want labeling is not a surprise since neither did tobacco.

While I'm not a big fan of Monsanto, it would be nice if you were a bit more honest.

Kloor points to a story in Canada's National Post that dismantles the Monsanto-killer myth in just a few words:
The issue of farmer suicides first gained media attention in 1995 as the southern state of Maharashtra began reporting a significant rise in farmers killing themselves.
Other states across the country began noticing an increase in farmer suicides as well. But it wasn’t until seven years later — in 2002 — that the U.S.-based agribusiness Monsanto began selling genetically modified cotton seeds, known as Bt cotton, to Indian farmers.

We got COOL because there was no way around that one although they tried.

If that fish came off the boat from China then there's not much overhead with printing "From China" on that label.
And now you can truly see how little food is produced in the US.

Here in Texas I don't see California grapes or strawberries.
All I see is "Chile" or "Mexico"

I always wonder what else is in there I might be wise to invest in a geiger counter when eating fish from the pacific. actually any fish..

The FDA says fish is still safe even with elevated levels.

There's a way around required GMO labeling--companies that DON'T use GMO ingredients can label as GMO free--consumers can then decide to buy them. Anything that isn't labeled could probably be assumed to contain GMOs.

30% of fundraising efforts to label GMO's came directly from Washington residents, showing clearly that Corporate power is influencing and controlling the vote of the uninformed American.

The vote was 54.8% opposed to labeling and 45.2% in favor of it.

Natural Cures Not Medicine: This is how GMO foods will be eliminated
the problem is you CANT label things not GMO

almost every piece of produce has been modified in one way or another

what is organic??

is a cow who eats "scotts'' grass seed (gmo) now organic or not

is a farm fertilized by cow poop the was fed on GMo. organic or not

nearly every seed out there is GMO to one extent or another

EVERY EAR of corn we grow today is not the same as it was 200 years ago...EVERY EAR of corn has been cross bred and cross pollinated or manipulated....there is NO SUCH THING AS ORGANIC corn

what does GMO mean

it means that a farmer, or a scientific MODIFIED the original

cross breeding......GMO
cross pollination......GMO
grafting........GMO

seedless watermelons .....GMO
Tangerine.....GMO
grapefruit....GMO
every strawberry you ever ate......GMO...they are all hybrids

you like bread and rolls.....Wheat; most modern and ancient wheat breeds are themselves hybrids. Bread wheat is a hexaploid hybrid of three wild grasses; durum (pasta) wheat is a tetraploid hybrid of two wild grasses......genetically modified from the original state

to try to ACTUALLY label what is modified or not....nearly impossible....and certainly a waste of the lawmakers time

Corn is not GMO in the U.K. , then again, they are ahead of us...

GMO doesn't matter, until you have a child who got anaphylactic shock, bladder disease or something else from eating it.

that would be false

the 'corn' in the UK is a hybrid of teosinte and maize

there are thousands of maize and hybrids of maize varieties grown around the world provide food for people and livestock

btw all maize ORIGINATED in southern North America ( mexico areas)(tropical Central Balsas River Valley ) there is ZERO corn that is NATURAL to the UK

Cows don't eat "Scott's grass"
You don't seed "Scott's grass" in pastures

There are strict guidelines about organic practices. Maybe you should read them and you'll get your answer.

And about all your "hybrids"..that's natural crossing.
Splicing RoundUp into plants is the same as crossing 2 plants to get a hybrid ?

You really don't know the difference.
