America currently spends a bit less than 20% of the GDP on health care.
If the laws were written so that:
More Americans get coverage
Insurance companies cover more diseases
The cost of healthcare is evenly divided between the middle class and the rich
Employers would have to choose between paying more and dropping coverage altogether
...It makes perfect sense that the average American will be paying much more to stay healthy, especially if their employer isn't, and especially if they are getting more services in return. This is what happens when you subsidize and/or cure the sick/dying poor that have diseases that are expensive to treat.

See middle class, the entitlement class thinks you are rich and should pay more. As TheHurricaneKid said, it makes perfect sense that "the average American" should pay more.

He thinks "YOU'RE RICH"
I never said the middle class was rich, I only said that it was logical for middle class to pay a.high premium because the way the law was written.
What you are missing is that with a larger pool that contains potentially younger and healthier people, the average declines. Moreover, the ACA mandates that 85% of premiums must be paid in medical care, unlike before.

Just out of curiosity Hurricane - how old are you and what do you do?
The name of a law has no meaning compared to the actual law.
At any rate, the Affordable Care Act does make care affordable for certain people.
Just like Obamas sales pitch has no meaning. "If you like your insurance you can keep your insurance". Why should the word "Affordable" have any meaning.
