Yes more cars and more money for government and policy and bringing up motorcycles would only show that the law has flaws.
seat belts "save lives" great.. no reason for a LAW!!!! Dont eat rat poison I'm not sure we need a law for that. It will KILL YOU!
Do we need a law to outlaw rat poison and anything else people are not suppose to do or can do.

Why write a congressman they are just going to say it saves lives.

Whats next no touching your ipod, mp3 player, your radio while driving or since the idea for police to do it would be hard and unseen we will just ignore that.

If a person wants to take a chance and pay the ticket or pay with their life then that's their problem. It's a good law.

Well that is the problem government treats people as stupid people, and instead of FREE PEOPLE!

If the law is there to save your life, and protect you in a nanny
state
way I find it funny that in a motorcycle your allowed to be "unsafe" in
one
of the most dangerous vehicles and the closest they got to safety was a helmet.
A seatbelt on a motorcycle would pretty much ensure that the bike would crush you in an accident.

You are free to pay the ticket if you wish or get tossed out the window and messed up or dead.

The...police...don't...write...the...laws...the... legislature...does.

Basic civics.

Write you congressperson(s), and your Governor. I'm sure they'll be glad to hear from you.

Then show 'em who's boss and don't buckle up. Be sure to write a living will just in case your head is rearranged after you go through your windshield.

Jesus the **** people get upset about these days is frightening.

One reason that seat belt laws came into being was due to the danger, to other motorists, of those driving without seatbelts. Now, many cars today have 'bucket seats', but back in the olden days most cars had 'bench' seats. Even a minor skid on a wet road could cause a driver to slide away from the steering wheel, losing all control of the car.

Note that while the Federal government mandated that cars have seat belts back in the 1960s, it was not mandated that people wear them. That was left up to the states. I believe New Hampshire remains the sole State that does not mandate wearing seat belts.

Well 40 years old I was 1 years old. Yes and I also know we didn't have lights on cars, or good windshield wipers. Over time cars and customers I am sure would have enjoyed the safety of these things in the cars. Along with AIR BAGS. In fact I am sure something else has been invented that is probably better then seat belts. Its not about the invention its about the LAW! Individual choices and or options are created without MANDATES and we should know that looking at the obamacare law :-)

What the hell do seatbelt laws have to do with Obamacare?

The idea that you will survive in a accident with a truck and motorcycle is assured way you will die.
FYI if you dont have a seat belt on and have a accident I can assure you in most cases you will not DIE or get hurt either it all depends on what kinda of accident it is. If we followed the "safety" reason motorcycles would be "banned" by now on this safety concept and the seat belt. Beside which is worse hitting a parked car at 50 miles and hour and flying off your bike over the handle bars and 100 feet down the rode or with a seat belt on and staying with the bike. Making this argument shows the LAW is not really needed. Education and free choice words for the individual and how they can protect their own lives.
