That is a really crazy headline, right? Unfortunately, it is not a joke. Right now, gelatin made with human DNA fragments is already being used in pharmaceutical drugs and vaccines, and scientists believe that recent breakthroughs will soon make it economically feasible to use such gelatin in consumer products such as gummy bears and marshmallows on a massive scale. So are you ready for gummy bears made out of people? They are coming.

Except for the scare-mongering way that article is written, it's very interesting and exciting.

Hahaha. Recombinant Human DNA Gelatin is not "made out of people."

And it's a great product. Not being made from an animal source (animal meaning non-humans and humans) takes away the disease transmission risk of making and consuming gelatin.

I don't think it is a product yet. Still being tested. Is it in actual use yet? Saw 2011 reports, but haven't seen much on it more recently.

Sure, it's a product. Recombinant human gelatin approved for clinical used can be purchased from a San Francisco based company called FibroGen. It's used in manufacturing vaccines and in drug capsules.

If you just want it for laboratory research use, there are a number of other US companies that produce it.

Looks like it is in it's infancy, but does sound like a product.

I am all for it, I have over used a body part and it's efficiency is not as good when I was young. Maybe some day I can print me up a new one

Well they are doing it now. Combining it with nano tech could be pretty interesting.
