I've come to the conclusion that maybe that public option would have been good for the U.S to help makeup for the shortcomings of our private oriented system. Meanwhile up in Canada they seem to need a private option to makeup for the shortcomings of their public system.

Canada must offer private options along with universal health-care to combat long wait times: report | National Post

Most in U.S. want public health option: poll | Reuters

What does this tell you about both current systems?

I love how you quoted The National Post, Canada's Fox news. In the article quoted it refers to the Fraser Institute, a Koch funded, right wing think tank.

Any chance of a less biased piece?

So you're saying Medicare (a publicly funded single payer system) is unconstitutional?

Isn't Canada alongside North Korea as the only two countries prohibiting private option?

Absolutely. The federal government has absolutely no business involving itself in our health matters. That is an issue only the States are allowed to deal with under the US Constitution.

Oh, nice one!

I decided I'd "cherry pick" from a time when all of the rumours were rife with this chit and if you care to read this missive you'll find in a comparison of nations YOURS scored consistently higher in every single category of dissatisfaction as polled. ACROSS the board from dissatisfaction with time delay to doctor's treatment.

Healthcare System Ratings: U.S., Great Britain, Canada

You pick North Korea to compare and I'll find you at least twenty countries with sewage running in the streets your citizens are flying to in droves to avail themselves of more timely, more economical, AND better care, okie dokie?

Summation for the cognitively impaired: Canada's Provinces, like the U.S. States have varying degrees of private insurance options available. Those folks who deem private insurance a necessity in Canada can move wherever they choose to live. Most are happy with the public universal provision

What are liberals in Canada suggesting would be a good way to relieve wait times?

Do you think that most people who want a universal healthcare system are against any private systems on top of that? I'm talking about the US.
