The Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed with far more Republican support than from the party of slavery.

I will never tire of rubbing democrat noses in this steaming, teeming historical fact -and facts are stubborn things.

Which party was responsible for Jim Crow? Both policies are the same. Controlling others lives and telling them who they have to associate with in the business world.
Government owns you!

Once again, in 1860, there was NO National Republican Party, NO National Democrat Party. By 1904, the two parties were running coordinated national campaigns, but then so were several other parties. In 1912 there were FOUR Presidential candidates. The two major parties were also transitioning between conservative and liberal positions along the political spectrum at the time. So democrat and republican was a much more liquid label, and not the partisan label which is the basis for your outrage.
Outrage? More like bemusement.

Tell ya what: See the movie 'Lincoln', then we'll talk.

And what's your point? Both the Democratic and Republican parties were very different from today. And on many social issues, the Northern Democrats had little in common with Democrats from the South. Forget about the south. Look at how the north voted, from your link:

House:
Northern Democrats: 145–9 (94–6%)
Northern Republicans: 138–24 (85–15%)

Senate:
Northern Democrats: 45–1 (98–2%) (only Robert Byrd of West Virginia voted against)
Northern Republicans: 27–5 (84–16%)

Reminds me of a quote from Atlas Shrugged:
“Did you really think we want those laws observed? We want them to be broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against… We’re after power and we mean it… There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt.â€

Many people tend to simplify things a little too much now a day... And people who aren't really informed tend to allow themselves to be lead flashy talk...

People forget us older folks remember the days when the Democrats in the South were standing at school doors blocking black kids from enrolling in white schools. It was on the newscasts every night. Only the younger generation can be fooled and it seems some are just fine doing it.

Saying Lincoln was a Dem is just stupid. People can look it up.

Talk about historical ignorance.
And then lets talk about those modern-day Democrats who go around waving old Soviet Union flags. Who cares about millions dead - as long as your ideology is forwarded, right?

Modern Progs think the problem in Auschwitz was those darn faulty shower heads!
