Obamacare's one-size-fits-all approach, deprives many seriously-ill patients of the specialist doctors they need to survive. Specialists they had full access to before Obama decided to "help" them with this new scheme - and penalize them if they didn't obey.

In the meantime, the plans those patients used to have, that provided the specialists they needed, have been cancelled since the Obama administration ruled they didn't meet Obamacare's mandatory "standards".

As Obama administration officials have said, "Sometimes when you want to make an omelet, you have to crack a few eggs."

Death by Obamacare: ACA "reform" reams cancer patients

ObamaCare is supposed to be a huge boon for anyone with a pre-existing condition. Count that another promise broken: It’s actually denying care because of pre-existing conditions. Millions of Americans with cancer and other chronic illnesses will wind up paying more for lifesaving care, if they can get it all.

To keep costs down, the White House designed ObamaCare plans as cut-rate HMOs. The low profit margins have forced insurers to downsize the number of doctors and hospitals in their networks — and to slash what they cover for out-of-network treatment.

So most ObamaCare plans don’t include the vast majority of the best cancer doctors and cancer centers. That’s a huge problem for these patients. As Dr. Scott Gottlieb, a former Medicare official, writes: “Cancer patients often need the help of specialized doctors and cancer institutions that won’t make it into many of these cheapened networks.”

All across the country, leading cancer centers — including New York’s Memorial Sloan Kettering — are excluded by the largest plans. In Washington state, the largest exchange plans exclude world-class cancer care for kids such as the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. California’s state-of-the-art Cedars-Sinai cancer center isn’t in any ObamaCare plan. Only a few plans include the Mayo Clinic.

And if you want a doctor outside such networks, you’ll generally have to pay the full cost of care.

In a year, you won't hear a peep out of most of those cancer patients.

Obama: no problemo.

NewsFlash! Insurance companies have been limiting plan providers for years. Why the sudden outrage? How many Americans had no insurance at all which translated to NO CANCER TREATMENT!

Newsflash--no health insurance at all deprives many seriously ill patients of doctors Period. Specialists they had full access to before they lost their health insurance and then did not have any. Think it doesn't happen? Think again. A woman where I worked was "laid off" or basically fired in the middle of her chemo. Had not been there long enough for Cobra. Too bad she had that pre-existing condition of cancer.

That whole article is full of conjecture and half truths. It is a typical example of taking one truth and extrapolating that one truth to countless "what ifs" and "may happens".

Well, there were fewer with no insurance than there is now. Now there are MORE people who will be without adequate medical care.. But at least those who had none before can now go in and get a wart on their backside treated.. Who cares about people with pre-existing conditions anyway? Certainly not anyone who crafted the ACA.

...and what about the woman that was cancelled just days before her double mastectomy? There are way too many with stories like hers and the right never gave a crap. There are real people getting coverage and the right wing/FOX/Limbaugh only see these people as statistics.

REMINDER: Republicans do not care about about the uninsured

Most of the arguments Republicans have made against the ACA have been lies. And worse, they did nothing to fix “the problems” they’re pointing out when they had the Congress and the presidency. The only “serious” alternative to the ACA they’ve offered would keep our system broken and possibly make it worse.

Republicans pretend to care about the economy while engineering a government shutdown that took $24 billion of it. They pretend to care about regulations while shoveling them on people trying to vote and women trying to make their own medical situations. And they pretend to care about health insurance while plotting to take it away from tens of millions.

“Back then, anecdotes about people who were denied coverage abounded,” The National Journal‘s Lucia Graves wrote in her excellent piece examining pre-ACA health care in America. “They included this 12-year-old boy who died in 2007 from an abscessed tooth after his family’s Medicaid lapsed. And this 17-year-old boy whose insurance was revoked after he tested positive for HIV. This woman who was denied coverage for breast cancer because she wasn’t diagnosed at the correct clinic. And this woman whose double mastectomy was denied after her insurance company learned she had visited a dermatologist for acne treatment the year before. Ah, yes, those were the days!”

Right... which left people free to shop around for plans that DID cover cancer and provide the best doctors.

But "Freedom" and "Choice" are specifically forbidden by Obamacare.

Apparently to Democrats, forcing everyone into identical policies, is more important that saving a few dying cancer patients.

Let me guess; you are on Medicare and have been out of the insurance market for years.

Who could "shop around for an insurance plan" that would cover treatment for ongoing cancer? Show me just one insurance policy that would cover treatment for a preexisting cancer.

The NY Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch. He and his pal Koch are the big money behind the ACA misinformation machine. Murdoch is also the single largest shareholder of News Corp, parent of Fox News. ( The second largest shareholder in a Saudi Muslim prince.)

The misinformation machine takes advantage of the general public's ignorance of insurance.

Articles like the one in the link would have the reader believe that some of the "world class" hospitals will no longer accept insurance. If that were true, they would have to shut their doors cause their bread and butter is insurance. None of these institutions ever accepted all insurance.
