Perhaps because, even if they happen to be rich themselves, do not favor helping the wealthy by further impoverishing the poor. Actually I think liberals dont hate the rich so much as the politicians who pander to them.
I'd say the fact that nearly half of recent college graduates are either unemployed or underemployed has shown that going into debt for a worthless degree is an idiotic idea. Then again, considering the number of people who are still enrolling for college and getting student loans, basic financial math may be beyond them.
You do know that the data is clear, a college education translates into a significantly higher income over one's lifetime than not getting a college degree, correct? Few argue that tuition costs are not exorbitant and out of control. Oddly enough, the folks who say something similar to what you have said are also the folks who argue against reducing the debt load of college students.
Now, what type of high-paying occupation would you reccomend for a person graduating high school that does not require a higher education?

Maybe part of the problem is that so many employers still insist on a college degree for work that a high-school or vocational-school graduate could easily perform.
I've been trying for years to get these "I hate the Rich" folks to state Exactly what they consider "Rich".
I've never gotten an answer to that question.
