Old people vote... a lot.

I don't think their will be a massive shift away from the GOP, but the TP is probably going to face competition from other GOP members which could unseat the GOP fringe.
One would hope. The far right isn't good for anybody. You're right, most people don't turnup in midterms, especially Democrats. Its gonna be between how mad the center is about the ACA mishaps, weighed against how mad they are about Congress, the shutdown, and the hyperpartisanship in general.

Off the front page? Are you kidding? Republicans will ensure that this fiasco is front and center until after the midterms. Mary Landrieu, Kay Hagan, Mark Begic, Mark Pryor, and other vulnerable Democrats are practially wetting themselves over the botched rollout. Do you think they will try to ignore the fiasco as if there is no consequence for their collective future? No way. They will go above and beyond to distance themselves from ACA because Republicans are more than willing to plaster the airwaves with their "I was for it before I was against it" turnaround that is sure to happen.

This thing is is just getting started! LOL

He isn't the obstructionist House with 9% approval, or the filibustering Senate minority, with flavor of the week superstars like Rubio and Cruz. As sad as the current state of affairs is, all Dems need to be is not Republicans. The Tea Party is the DNC's biggest campaign contributor, and will remain so as long as moderate conservatives allow the far right, Evangelicals, and bigots control their party's direction.
the country would have been better off had the president known enough about his web site to delay the launch instead of shutting the government down to avoid a delay of a failed ACA launch

The employer mandate kicks in in 2015. A whole new round of cancellation letters goes out in October 2014, right before midterms. They'll all say workers' policies are being cancelled because they don't meet ACA requirements, rules, and regulations. And, oh, yeah, workers will have to pay a lot more for new ACA-compliant insurance.

The Obamacare fiasco will only mushroom as time goes on...

We don't know if the "far right" isn't good for anybody, because we have never had it. On the other hand, we HAVE had the far left in control since 2008 and guess what? It sucks.

If you think the far left has been in control since 2008, then you clearly are a member of the far right wing.

Republicans on the right in 2014 will likely feel a desire to be more so than they are now to be out front as to how much they are opposed to legalizing marijuana. That will work quite well in some states, such as Oklahoma, less well in other states.
