Funny how people can talk about places they know nothing about and have never been all in the name of sensationalism.

Detroit has a HUGE black population in the downtown area. Always has. I know several blacks that own lofts. My uncle owns 2 bars downtown and is the half owner of another downtown restaurant.

The only so called "white" enclave in the downtown area is Greektown, and that's no more than a single street that runs a few blocks long. And even there, you'll find just as many blacks as whites.

I will say that the some of the infrastructure and bones of Detroit impressed me. Some of the nicest, most livable suburbs in America. You can tell they had a really good thing going there for a few decades before they were undercut by laborers in the south and overseas. Obviously, once the whites left, the black politicians made things worse than they needed to be, but it really is interesting how high they rose in such a short amount of time.

Much of that grandness is still there. I hope times like that can make a comeback. The current culture of cheap is bad, imo.

Did I say that "US culture" destroyed Black people? Maybe 50 years ago with Jim Crow you'd be onto something; this is 2013 and the biggest enemy of at least Black dudes are other Black dudes, not the KKK fools and their friends. Sheesh!

When your icons are folks such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson as opposed to visionaries such as Dr, King, no explanation is necessary.

When your leaders won't give millions of black kids trapped in failing schools for life a chance to have a productive life because they can't stand up to the unions, why do blacks hold them in very high regard as opposed to despising them?

A white enclave in a city won't be tolerated by the left that runs the U.S.A. White-only enclaves are racist, don'tcha know?
They'll fix the issue by providing subsidized housing in any area that becomes too white. A white-only enclave in Detroit would destroy the "rich cultural tapestry" that makes Detroit the jewel that it is.

You guys don't even understand how Detroit is run. The schools are part of the State of Michigan and have no connection to local government. The stink is on the tab of Michigan not Detroit. So tell us how you think Republican Michigan is going to fix its school shortcomings in Detroit. We await your wisdom.

Most of the suburbs of Detroit are white enclaves and they are obviously tolerated.

Downtown is 5,000 people out of 700,000. It is irrelevant. And if it increased by an order of magnitude it would still be irrelevant.

It is funny, people keep pointing this out over and over and the far right wingers still don't get it, or they continue to ignore this fact because it doesn't fit with their liberals are bad hyperbole.

Yes, state government, not city government. So this is Michigan's problem.
