I will start off with the Great Society programs (thanks LBJ) that have reduced a once self-reliant, family-oriented society to a nation of dependent, entitled socialists. These policies have stripped many of their humanity and incentivized out of wedlock births and sloth and cultivated an external locus of control within the population.
The Federal Government was constructed to spread power equally among the Federal Government represented by the Executive Branch, the States represented by the Senate, and the People, represented by the House of Representatives.

During the industrial revolution, the oligarchs like JP Morgan, Rockefeller, and Carnegie supported movements that increased their control and domination over government by way of centralization of power in Washington.

They accomplished this goal by the passage of three major pieces of legislation. The first was the Federal Reserve act in which they stripped Congress of its power to control the nationís money, and made the government a debtor to the Federal Reserve and private banks.

The second was the 16th amendment by which they made the American people's property collateral for the debts of the Federal Government.

The third was the 17th amendment in which they stripped the States of their third of the power within the Federal Government.

None of these pieces of legislation were ever legally passed or ratified.
Ask yourself why would any State legislature vote to ratify a piece of legislation which stripped them of all power at the Federal level?

They would not.

Here are a few others

Prohibition

The National Firearms Act of 1934

Immigration and Nationalization Act 1965

The Gun Control Act of 1968

Department of Education.

Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms

The Hughes Amendment of the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986

Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986

Assault Weapons Ban form 1994-2004

There's almost too many to name.

Liberal opposition to using our natural resources has made us dependent on middle eastern oil and contributed to terrorism.

Liberal meddling with education costs caused them to rise at 700% of the average cost of goods and services, making the idea of working your way through college impossible and saddling nearly every young graduate with years of debt.

Liberal meddling with housing created the crime ridden drug centerplaces that dot our big cities and gave rise to the gang problem.

Liberal meddling with education has caused a steady decline of American education as compared to the rest of the industrialized world. They've created absurdities like kids graduating high school who are illiterate, being suspended for eating their poptart in the shape of a gun, bringing 6 year olds up on charges of sexual harassment, etc.

Liberal meddling in the housing market was one of the major reasons for the great recession we just went through. It was Clinton's Justice Department that forced the banks to make all those loans that ended up collapsing the housing market.

Liberal reliance on identity politics to win elections has served to prolong racial tension. Racial tension is on the rise now whereas it had been on the decline before they decided that calling their opponents racists at every turn was a good way to score political points.

Liberals changing the law to allow public sector unions has had disastrous effects as the unfunded liabilities associated with government officials signing contracts with public sector unions without having the means to pay for them are one of the primary causes of the economic problems plaguing the states.

Liberal support for "nontraditional families", lionizing single motherhood, etc has increased poverty, crime, and mental illness as the absence of a father has now been shown to be a primary factor in youth delinquency, dropout rates, drug use, etc.

Liberal animosity towards business with punishing taxes and overregulation has caused entire industries that America used to dominate to be almost wholly shipped overseas.

Liberal ideas of political correctness have transformed universities from the bastions of free thought they once were into places with speech codes that would be illegal outside the academic environment.

Liberals created the Federal Reserve which has presided over the American dollar losing something like 90% of its value under its management.

Liberals changed the constitution so that Senators would be elected by the people instead of by state legislators, with the result that the 10th amendment is a thing of the past. The federal government now collects tax money from the states and only returns it if the state spends it in the manner in which the federal government chooses. This was exactly what the election of the Senate by the states was designed to prevent.

You have an absurdly large amount to choose from when looking for liberal policies that have hurt the nation.

The absolute worst, most destructive policy leads women to scam and play the system BIG TIME.

Women who have ZERO means to support a child.....get knocked-up ON PURPOSE in order to jack-in to the
Baby-Momma-Bennies gravy train. This leads to generational poverty and some really messed up kids.....who mostly grow up to be messed up adults.

This is the wrong place to conduct research. Go talk to real people at a Starbucks or Peet's and maybe a hardware store. Talk to an owner-operator of a small franchise and maybe a few school teachers.

What makes you think you're going to find that here?

Hey emeraldcitywanderer....

I don't know enough about the histories of many of these things so I won't comment on them but I certainly do about the Clean Air Act. What is considered the most important piece of environmental legislation ever passed is the 1990 Amendment to the Clean Air Act becsue it gave it teeth. That legislation almost entirely consisted of what was proposed by George H. W. Bush and passed almost unanimously in both the House and the Senate.

Honey,

why don't you tell us the "successes" of conservative policies in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, West Virginia, etc etc?

Anyway, states such as Massachussets, Vermont, NYS, Washington State, as well as countries such as France, Australia, Holland, UK, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, are still more civilized, successful and desiderable places than ANY southern state such as Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, etc etc
