Does anyone but me wonder why someplace like Costco actually has to "label" the books to begin with. It's the Bible. Put a price tag on it and be done with it. Do we really need the word "reference" on the price tag of an Atlas to know whether we want to purchase it or not? Most people who are going to buy it already know what it is....Is this how stupid we've become?
Yes but Jesus is the ONLY one who was killed and rose from the dead. That is what makes Jesus different than the others.
Nobody has ever come back from the dead...That is one of the reasons many of us consider the bible as fantasy fiction...How can anyone with the knowledge we have today believe such clap trap?
You are absolutely correct. The Bible is the truth of course, but people who believe in their own religion or spiritual path should just ignore the ignorant who speak without real knowledge about their said religions or spirituality.
The Bible is the truth OF COURSE? What?
How do you guys postulate such a thing so matter-of-factly without any substantiation whatsoever?
What's the "truth" about it?
Speak without real knowledge? My goodness...you Bible believers can't even agree among yourselves on a single God hypothesis.
Methodist, Baptist, Calvinist, Mennonite, Catholic, Greek and Russian Orthodox, Moonies, Mormon, A.M.E, COGIC, Lutheran, and on and on and on....
Sounds to me like it's YOU GUYS that have little knowledge about what you claim to believe.
Congratulations to Costco for labelling the Bible as fiction... and then not taking any guff from complainers. Talking snakes only exist in cartoons. Let the War on Christians boycotts begin. Never mind that they are one of the few retailers paying a living wage and are closed this Thanksgiving.
“People are pretty shocked and upset,” he told me. “We are supposed to be living in an era of tolerance, but what Costco did doesn’t seem too tolerant.” I called Costco headquarters in Issaquah, Wash. hoping to get answers. The nice lady who answered the phone told me she was aware of the issue and chalked it up to a “human error at a warehouse.”
“It’s all fixed,” she said.
But actually, it’s not fixed – because there’s a boatload of Bibles in the Simi Valley store still marked as fiction.
At that point, the nice lady on the phone became not-so-nice and promptly informed me that Costco doesn’t talk to the press.
“Nothing to report,” she said curtly.
Not you exactly. I was responding to your question, "What hate"? There's plenty of hate for people of faith to go around. And vice versa. And yes, the Bible is full of blood and slaughter. It's impossible to believe otherwise.
And I still stand by my last paragraph. I still have yet to meet an atheist who didn't have outright hostility toward anyone with beliefs different from their own.
Really--maybe you have not met enough atheists to make an informed opinion. How many wars have been about atheists fighting people who believe in any religion? On the other hand, how many wars have been about one religion fighting against an enemy with different religious beliefs? Atheists are not fanatic about their beliefs and atheists believe in what the founding fathers believed--separating church and state. And as long as you brought up hostility--how many people making extremely hostile statements on these forums call themselves Christians?
