http://rt.com/usa/pentagon-numbers-d...-treasury-922/

Is there any truth to this story?

Quote:
An investigation by Reuters found that since 1996, the $8.5 trillion dollars of taxpayer money that Congress has allocated towards the US Department of Defense has never been accounted for.
It appears that the Reuters report has been taken down from Reuters, though googling "Reuters pentagon waste", as of 7 am EST 18/10/2013 shows evidence that the report existed.

If the article you are saying was taken down is the same one you linked, it's still there for me (at the moment, at least).

I would be willing to bet that a fair amount of fraud occurs where the Pentagon budget is concerned.

It's the old adage of "When you didn't earn that money, you have a tendency to not spend it judiciously."

The actual Reuters report is down.

how the heck do you think black projects are funded? since we have an open society, anyone can get a copy of our federal budget and read it. if we had to account for black projects, then the world would know what we are working on supposedly in secret. so things like this are always going to pop up. $8.5 trillion unaccounted for, $600 hammers, $1000 toilet seats, etc. and when someone complains, the vendor, who has built the fine into their cost already with the permission of the government, pays what seems to be a huge fine to the government, and the sheeple are content that our government is watching out for our money. in the mean time nothing changes, black projects are still funded in a covert manner so that no one outside the pentagon knows what is being funded.
