JFK was able to be assassinated because the Secret Service was incompetent, period!

They failed to protect JFK. The Secret Service acted recklessly when they stayed out drinking all night the day before the assassination.

Quote:
"Nine out of the 10 had consumed alcohol, [of] which four of those agents were also assigned PPD, or presidential protection detail, in the follow up car behind President Kennedy’s motorcade," Rookstool said.
Quote:
In sworn statements, the agents admit to drinking on the night before the death of President Kennedy. The documents state that some the agents left their post at the Texas Hotel to party with waitresses at The Cellar, who served drinks wearing only their underwear.
Quote:
"Some of these agents that were out until five in the morning, that were supposed to be guarding the president's suite, bragged to the owner of The Cellar, Pat Kirkswood, that they were out having a few cocktails while they got the Fort Worth Fire Department guarding the presidential suite," Rookstool said.

Now, these secret service agents are going public whining about how bad THEY feel! This would be like a surgeon telling the family how bad he feels after their loved on dies due to this surgeon being drunk at the time of the operation.

I don't see how if they were not hungover they could have raced to the car in front of them in order to stop a bullet from an unexpected shooter. Guilt is one thing, but this is like guilt for having a fight with a friend before they hit by a random brick falling from a building. The only real way it would have changed is from blind luck.

As stated in the article...

Quote:
The Secret Service investigated the agents, but found that the drinking did not impair them or slow down their reactions when the President was shot.
If JFK was shot in his suite when they weren't there, yes...they are guilty of many things. That they were drinking the night before had no impact of being able to stand in front of a bullet going a couple hundred MPH from an unknown location. Humans can't move that fast period, unless you believe in superpowers.

Look, how could they be alert when they were out drinking the night before until 5:00 am? If they had been alert, they would have spotted and shot the sniper at the book depository window before he could shoot the third shot. Remember, there were three shots. Also, there were four agents directly behind the JFK vehicle. Each is assigned to watch a certain perimeter. They were just sitting there.

Would you want to fly in an aircraft in the morning piloted by someone who was drinking until 5:00 am?

What really annoys me though is now the Secret Service is complaining that they feel bad.

even if the agents had not been drinking the night before, even if they were clear headed and ready for action, even if they had double or even triple the number of agents on duty that day, there is still no way they could have prevented the assassination of JFK. oswald was a trained shooter who was willing to give up his life to take that of the president. and if you want more evidence that JFK would still be dead, remember that when they were taking oswald out of the police station, surrounded by cops, and jack ruby was able to get in and kill oswald with in hours of JFK being killed.

or how about RFK, who was killed by sirhan sirhan? RFK was surrounded by security in a much more controlled environment, and yet one man again was able to assassinate him as well. the reality is that if someone is willing to give their life to take the life of another, there is virtually no way to stop them. it doesnt matter if it is lincoln, kennedy, reagan, or even obama. a determined individual can succeed where a large group cant. but that individual has to understand that they are trading their life for completing the mission. simple as that.

There has always been talk that the Secret Service was part of the conspiracy which resulted in the assassination of the President. There have been many other theories, also. I'm not about to break-out the tin-foil hat, just yet.

I am not either. I just believe the Secret Service was incompetent and incapacitated because they were drinking all night. They were just there physically and that was all. Who knows what may have happened if they had been alert with intact reflexes.

The most annoying thing is now they are talking about how hard this was for them, blah, blah, blah.....

the exact same thing that did happen. unless the secret service is hiring supermen to protect the president. as i said before, if someone is willing to give up their life to take the life of another, it is virtually impossible to stop that person from completing their mission. remember when reagan was shot? those agents didnt spend the night drinking and partying, they were bright eyed and bushy tailed when reagan was shot, and it was just divine providence that reagan didnt die on the way to the hospital, or on the operating table. and yes it really was that close. the bullet missed his heart by a very small amount.
