Rep. Trey Radel Charged With Cocaine Possession, Shows Canada That the U.S. Still Has It - NationalJournal.com
Just when you were beginning to get a little tired of Politicians Gone Wild, Politico is reporting that Congressman Trey Radel, R-Fla., was arrested on October 29 for possession of cocaine in D.C. The freshman congressman is slated to go to court on Wednesday. Take that, Rob Ford!

In a press statement, Radel says that he "struggle[s] with the disease of alchoholism, and this led to an extremely irresponsible choice." He also said that "I need to get help so I can be a better man" to his family. The statement suggests that Radel will soon be seeking treatment.
Anyone else smell a coverup here? This happened almost 3 weeks ago and is just being reported now???

What does being an alcoholic have to do with him possessing cocaine? If he was arrested for drunk driving or for being drunk and disorderly at a Redskins game, I can see that. Alcohol is hardly a "gateway drug" to cocaine. Try again, sir.

Yes, it looks worse when it sees sunlight after a long cover-up.

So I guess the new defense for using coke is that the booze made you do it. I always find it amazing how many politicians are boozers and druggies. Robert Novak wrote in his autobio that DC floats on a sea of booze. There is no way that you can manage complex thought processes when intoxicated. Maybe that's why we get Iraq from one admin, and Obamacare from the next.

Don't place the Charlie Crist Progressive, in with the TEA Party.
Although I must say, the original Ron Paul TEA Partyist, would say live & let live.

Alcohol is the gateway drug of all drugs, that they keep trying to pin on pot.

What an idiot. He should have just waited for the Democrats to legalize it.

How unoriginal that he used the Toronto mayor's excuse of blaming it on being an alcoholic. Is this "trending?"

Or abused a 'legal' drug from BigPharma to support the Republicans' obeisance to corporations, eh?

It has nothing to do with Crist. Tray Radel (R) was a Tea PARTYer.
