So it looks like day 1 was-There will be no tax increases, or loophole closures. OK, so if the Democrats take the opposing side of "There will be no spending cuts"....what the heck?

They did agree on one thing though apparently...they need to take 10 days off for the holiday, leaving them with only two weeks to work this out.

What is wrong with these people? Is there a belief that unless they get everything the exact way they want that there should be nothing? Do they not get that we want a government that functions? And Ryans supposed to be leading this, and thats what he starts with? Most of the people voting for him believe in getting rid of loopholes. Why not use those for your negotiation point?

This inability to govern is going to hurt us all. Negotiate!

There is no common ground on tax increases or budget cuts and they should work on the loop holes that would at least be something.

Actually I think the problem is that "fixing the loopholes" can be defined as "raising taxes". And technically thats true. The reality is though, loopholes often represent a fundamental unfairness, and as such are viewed by most people as fair game. *I* certainly view them that way. They ARE a tax increase to those abusing them. Tough.

So what if they DO just look at spending cuts. What if the dems say "OK no Tax increases, but WE get to pick the cuts?"

And the Cuts? I swear the democrats should LET the Republicans pick them. And all of them just vote "present". It can be the Republican cuts then. I DARE them. Because cuts sound great...all the way up until you pick them. Turns out most government spending is really popular.

I am not so sure the {R}s are on board with cutting loop holes even though their nominee Romney claimed he was for it. It sounded pretty and all but Romney never said which ones he would cut. Since, I have not really heard of {R}s working on the idea.

Romney is a perfect example of what is wrong with our Marxist tax code where he was supposed to pay some where in the mid 30's but only paid like 14.7%. Of course I do not think that is what Marx had in mind. Myself I am in support of a sales or flat tax where everyone has skin in the game but no doubt the tax code needs reformed.

Horse trading is the only way to get things done that is why I supported Simpson/Bowles. If Obama want his little 2.5% increase that won't mean squat let him have it. But make him trade up and agree to 100 billion in cuts, real cuts and none of that projected spending crap that the leaders call cuts.
