If the term corruption is being used to describe what the legislature in PA did regarding the gas tax hike, then someone making such a statement is illiterate and doesn't understand what's being discussed. Time to break-out the tin-foil hats.
“Overall, we find that dishonest individuals -- as measured by the dice task -- prefer to enter government service,” wrote Hanna and coauthor Shing-yi Wang, an assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
They added, “Importantly, we show that cheating on this task is also predictive of fraudulent behaviors by real government officials.”
How do we convince, party follows that this is so true...have you noticed how they fear being disloyal to a corrupt party?
When did American's become so gullible?
that started happening way back in time in this country, we fought a civil war over that, and that was the turning point for the federal government. and the next point was the ratification of the 17th amendment that put the selection of a states senators in the hands of the people instead of the state governments, that was essentially the final nail in the coffin. and then the rhetoric that each candidate spews, mostly half truths and out right lies about their opponent, and not even on the issues, but rather about their personal lives, and then the media joins in and we get information, or misinformation, overload and then we tend to vote for what seems to be the least slimy candidate in the race. as such instead of getting quality candidates, we get obama and mccain, and romney, and clinton, and bush and nixon and kennedy and johnson, etc. and we get that because the really good people, the ones that would actually serve the country rather than just profit from it, wont run for office because they dont want their reputations smeared.

its not the gas tax hike per say, but the corruption leading up to the legislature deciding they need to raise the tax. the gas tax was supposed to be put in a fund specifically to be used on road building and maintenance. instead the legislature decided it should go into the general fund, to be spend as they saw fit rather than what is was supposed to be spent on.
and that is the problem with growing government. money that is earmarked for a particular project, gets sidetracked because the government decides they have to keep their power, so they create a dependent class of people so they can spend more and more money to keep getting elected by pandering to the dependent class and thus showing the people how much they "care" about the people and helping the poor and down trodden.

This is NOT about republicans vs democrates or visa versa
Please write down your thoughts....
My one concern here is, that government has become completely detached from the reality of the working class...they keep taxing us to death, strangling us, to get more money to spend...enough is enough....
Corbett just signed a bill that will impose a 25 - 28 cent hike per gallon of gasoline...
Lets vote these deadheads out and get people in there who work for the people.
these guys sit around in their $2,000 suits without a clue.
I don't mind a state tax as much as a federal one.
But the answer is to arrange your life to use as little of a highly taxed product as possible. It can be done. Starve the beast.
Let the idiots pay consumption taxes.
