They won't support a plan because Tea Nuts are not about progress. There are 4 driving factors to their madness:
1) Misguided faith: Basically, their version of religion is the only right one - once they are done cherry-picking the pieces of scripture that they like while misinterpreting or ignoring the rest. This allows them to hate gays "because the Bible says so," while happily eating shellfish and cheesburgers while wearing mixed fabrics - you know, some of the other "abominations" called out in the same part of the Bible.
2) "Just World Fallacy": This is the insane belief that everyone "gets what they deserve in life." So, if you're poor, you "deserve it." If you're out of work, you "are lazy." If you're ill, you "didn't pray hard enough," and so on. Even a child - especially one born in a 3rd world nation - can see how flawed this viewpoint is, but it lets them feel smug and superior while loudly proclaiming how they are solely responsible for their own successes in life: they chose their own parents, built their own schools, educated their own teachers, and so on... or so you'd believe if you listened to their arrogant prattle.
3) "I've got mine, so scr*w you!" The other half of the Just World Fallacy. Tea Nuts believe that everyone else is "lazy," and everyone else "wants handouts," but don't touch their pensions, social security, medicare, etc. Right...
4) "Government is all powerful, so it is bad, but business is good, even though it is all powerful." Tea Nuts believe we should tear down our system of government where we can elect people and replace it with corporate feudalism, where we have no say at all... in the name of "freedom," of course. They'll whine and moan about taxes, but gladly subsidize outsourcing, poverty-wages, and so on provided somebody is getting rich and "the stock market goes up." Nevermind that this is not in their own best interest - they don't care, and worshiping business is second only to worshiping themselves.
Nothing in their belief system is about progress, making the world better, or helping anyone else, and I haven't met a Tea Nut yet who isn't arrogant, hateful, smug, and eagerly looking forward to any chance to hurt his fellow man... because they are "weak" and "deserve it."
Long story short - don't expect anything but more whining and venom from them while they offer no solutions... they don't have any, and even if they did, they wouldn't share them since somebody else might benefit from that, and altruism is a sin in their eyes.
you prolly dont realize your entire post was nothing but whining and moaning, do ya ?
Do you think the tea party cares about the stinkin' website when it's the Obamacare law that needs to be repealed? The website is a broken tool. They have to live with a broken law and when you are talking about people's health, it's no laughing matter. It could be a matter of life or death for them and their children. If Obamacare is so wonderful, why did Democrats, including the President, think they had to lie about it? Period.
How about exempting all seniors from income taxes under $170,000 per couple. This would be similar to the Medicare Part B exemption. Would you support that? Seems like a winner for Republicans..just another tax cut.
Nah. That money would go to the poors. OTOH, the GOP would be likely to exempt all seniors who earn over $170,000 / household. That's "Job Creation."
By 2016 the ACA will be well established and used by many who will enjoy the lower cost and higher quality healthcare coverage, for the GOP to then run on a platform of scrapping the ACA as their first order of business if elected will ensure they wont get elected.
Now that Healthcare.Gov seems to be working how do you get the base excited again. Do you go back to Benghazi, or Fast and Furious, how about Birth Certificates? Instead of always being negative maybe Republicans could look for their own plan similar to Medicare Part D. How about exempting all seniors from income taxes under $170,000 per couple. It isn't working. They have yet to begin building the "back end." You might be able to register (and that is also debatable, because it still isn't working as it should), but you cannot "sign up" even if you think you have. They cannot process your application.
Another way to get the Tea Party to go absolutely bonkers is to bring up a story of some one successfully signing on to the ACA...
Or you can just point out the fact that most Tea Partiers are happily enjoying the benefits of a socialized single payer system in the form of Medicare. Teabaggers almost universally love their Medicare, hence the infamous sign seen waving at many rallies - "keep your government hands off my Medicare". However, they hate the idea that someone other than themselves may benefit from the ACA.
Suffering from extreme levels of cognitive dissonance seems to be a crucial ingredient in the strange mix that results in a teabagger.

Its actually just as easy today as it was the day the Tea Party started.
Pay particular attention to the first major field
National Debt 17,206,943,400,000
Then to the last major field
Unfunded Liabilities
126,815,525,000,000
Dont take much more than that.
