These concerns are heightened by a sequence of events surrounding the retraction:

* the appointment of ex-Monsanto employee Richard Goodman to the newly created post of associate editor for biotechnology at FCT
* the retraction of another study finding potentially harmful effects from GMOs (which almost immediately appeared in another journal)
* the failure to retract a paper published by Monsanto scientists in the same journal in 2004, for which a gross error has been identified.

The first bulleted item apparently speaks volumes as to Monsanto’s tactics in gaining corporate-style control over many segments of society, commerce, and government. Shouldn’t someone question the revolving door policy Monsanto’s former chief lobbyist Michael Taylor has enjoyed at federal agencies, and now as FDA Deputy Commissioner for Foods? Can that be why we have FDA-mandated “No GMO Labeling of Foods”?

Then there’s Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, a former Monsanto employee – he was a company lawyer. Does a corporate lawyer position warrant enough experience to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court?"

Amazing how anyone that is pro capitalism could stick up for Monsanto.
They are buying out all their competition in the market place with the help of the government and they also do not believe the consumer should have a choice when it comes to buying their frankenfood.

The Government in conjunction with Monsanto at the rate they are going will have complete CONTROL over the food supply starting with the seeds. The Government and a Fascist Corporations wet dream come true.

They have your best interest at heart. This will end well.

It there is nothing wrong with it, they would not spend money on preventing GMO to be labeled.

This is absolutely not true!

GMO and genetic franken-food is being consumed here more than anywhere else. How many thousand tons of Doritos (alone) do Americans eat? Most Canola goes into cooking oil, and the US is the biggest consumer of cooking oils.

  • Alfalfa (first planting 2011)
  • Canola (approx. 90% of U.S. crop)
  • Corn (approx. 88% of U.S. crop in 2011)
  • Cotton (approx. 90% of U.S. crop in 2011)
  • Papaya (most of Hawaiian crop; approximately 988 acres)
  • Soy (approx. 94% of U.S. crop in 2011)
  • Sugar Beets (approx. 95% of U.S. crop in 2010)
  • Zucchini and Yellow Summer Squash (approx. 25,000 acres)
How can you say most of the crops go to third world countries, when 90%+ of the crop is GMO? Monsanto claims most of the corn is used for fuel. You can't have it both ways. Either most is used for fuel, or most exported as food, not both. Someone is not being honest.

Whole Foods:
What is Whole Foods Market’s position on GMOs and labeling?Whole Foods Market has long believed that consumers have a right to know how their food was produced. We strongly support mandatory labeling of GMO-derived food. We believe that government-mandated labeling of GMO ingredients would enable shoppers, retailers and manufacturers to make purchasing decisions that reflect their beliefs. That’s why we’ve set a deadline that, by 2018, all products in our U.S. and Canadian stores must be labeled to indicate whether they contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

How on earth can anyone be against labeling our food? Monsanto had Californians believing the lie that it would cost consumers $1B. The truth, it would cost Big Agra about $1M. Why would Monsanto pour $60M into fighting GMO labeling in one state if they didn't have something to hide?

How about genetically engineered Salmon.

Several companies are creating Franken Salmon.
AquaBounty - AquaBounty Technologies
Our mission is to play a significant part in “The Blue Revolution” (incredible)

The largest AquaAdvantage by Aqua Bounty Farms PEI, a Canadian company, has been prohibited from selling or raising their fish in Canada. So, they are doing it in Panama and raising them for the US MARKETS.

Corporations run this country, and our politicians would sooner risk poisoning us than lose their precious lobby money. We are being hosed by the very people we supposedly "voted" for.

Oh, and Monsanto bases the safety on a single study which they conducted covertly. The FDA took their word that it was safe, and never did their own studies to prove GMOs safe.

Genetically engineered (GE) foods have never been safety tested by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), thanks to a 20-year-old policy that says it’s up to the biotech companies to determine the safety of genetically engineered (GE) foods. So while all other developed countries require safety testing for GE plants, the government agency in charge of protecting U.S. citizens lets biotech companies, who stand to make billions in profits from GE foods, conduct their own “voluntary safety consultations.”

Five Ways the FDA Has Failed Consumers on Genetically Engineered Foods

These laws were written by former Monsanto and DuPont executives who funneled in and out of the FDA and positions of power in our government. They basically hijacked the FDA.

And now Congress passed the so-called Monsanto Protection Act. Isn't it great?
