I'm afraid that most of the people just vote on the fad issue of the day - like gay "marriage." When it comes to things that really matter, like their health care and finances, they just don't seem too educated. Oh well, screw 'em!

Cop out blanket excuse. And again. you ignore the entire premise that the world needs all kinds. Not everyone is designed for risk, designed for school or designed for certain jobs.

And why is NYC a bleeding heart.. notice that most places that are liberal are very culturally diverse.. those that are conservatives are less so and insulated... liberals are more open and understanding.. and yes, tolerant. Conservative states are the opposite.

Diversity is why you find more liberals in cities and major "ports" like NY and california.

Actually outside of core urban areas. New York and California are slightly right leaning or very conservative in the rest of the state.

There are parts of LA and SF that vote Democratic like 80%. But the further you get out the more conservative peoples views get.

We all know New York has lost billions in its expected tax base over the years.

California is losing a lot of taxpayers. Especially with prop 30 "retroactive" 13% state income taxes last year on millionaires. While California brags about increase revenue collection for 2012 due to the bogus retroactive taxes. (Law didn't pass until November 2012) but they forced the taxes to be retroactive Jan 1 2012.

It's only a slight bump in revenue because people (wealthy) were dumping stocks and gains in 2012 before the bush tax cuts expired (or in anticipation it would expired...which turned out correct for those in the high income tax brackets).

Since more than 3,500,000 residents of California have been fleeing the state over the past two decades according to Joel Kotkin, an exodus taking place simultaneously with a plunge in births well below the replacement rate according to a study done by the Lucile Packard Foundation of Children's Health at USC, the state is going to be obliterated financially within 20 years when the retirees will wake up and discover to their horror that the number of persons working in the state is far below the number required to provide enough tax revenue to pay their medical costs, which will result in skyrocketing taxes of an unprecedented magnitude, on top of the godather of all crash-and-burn jobs as it relates to spending on social services.

NY state has already lost billions of dollars in revenue since the crash of 2008, but could go a long way towards improving its balance sheet dramatically if it weren't for the environmental zealots who have everybody in Albany in their hip pockets, and have prohibited the practice of fracking, to go with horrible schools and a plunging quality of life statewide, and especially in cities such as Buffalo & Rochester.

Another liberal hellhole which goes by the name of Chicago saw over 200,000 of its residents leave the city as well as Cook County for other states between 2000-2010, and the state's population in 2010 sank to its lowest level since 1910.

ObamaCare won't help too many poor and low-income residents in any of these three states or in large swaths of the country for that matter, since the younger residents nationwide have shown no inclination to sign up for substandard coverage at horrendously overpriced rates while being restricted to county clinics and community hospitals unless they can come up with some hefty amounts of $$$ for soaring co-pays and deductibles.

California is indeed due to receive a very rude awakening when the state's tax revenue total for 2013 is tabulated; the state received a gusher of revenue at the end of last year as millions of folks cashed in their capital gains revenue increases in advance of the increase in the capital gains tax rate which took place on January 1st, and neither Governor nor the Democrats in DC or anywhere else will be ready for the sharp dropoff in tax revenue when tax-filing season starts next month.

The tax hit will not be pretty, so grab your popcorn and some nachos and watch the meltdown begin and accelerate for many years to come, since the healthcare.gov website is far from finished, and 75,000,000 citizens will find themselves simultaneously walloped by healthcare cancellation notices from their employers, right in the middle of election season starting this summer, and certainly by the fall.

I hope you succeed and earn lots of money. You'll be back under "Proud2beGOP" screaming about the 50% you pay in taxes...

Right. As long as someone thinks the way you do. Liberals cannot tolerate contrary viewpoints - which is probably why so many of you congregate in large cities.
