Depending on how much that they are making some of them are still eligible for medicaid and food stamps

I was referring to those who work fulltime, who earn to muc for food stamps, and did not quaify for Medicaid before Obamacare.

Especially considering that appears to be the case for such a significant part of the country.
You're right, it's absolutely terrifying. More terrifying still is that the bottom 40% own almost no wealth in this country. Regardless of what their income is, they're not making enough to get ahead in any meaningful way. That's why they should pay little in taxes.

On the flip slide, even though the rich are paying more than their income share in taxes, their wealth continues to increase.

Funny, ... Obama is having a hard time legislating the rich into poverty. The same as he is not able to legislate prosperity for the poor.

Federal income tax is not the only tax people pay.

According to these numbers the top 1% pays about 21.6% of all taxes and makes about 20% of all income. That's not exactly "soaking the rich."

One thing that consistently amazes me is how much of the top 5% of this country chooses to hang out on City-Data. All that hard work seems to leave plenty of time.

Yea, we have a choice, take a pay cut and have more time or fire people and work full time

Ummm ... there are other taxes we pay besides income tax, right?

I mean, I pay property tax, city wage tax, state income tax, a gas tax every time I pump fuel in my car, taxes on my electric bill and my cable/internet bill, sales tax on most of my purchases, not to mention tolls on roads and bridges, airport taxes, etc. etc.

Ben Franklin observed 250 years ago that two things cannot be avoided: death and taxes.
