I'm not sure why anyone works hard and tries to save money anymore.

5 or more years prior to the age they will need constant care, talk to them about a financial planner to get things into the kids name. Accounts. They cannot take your home.

I'm convinced that there will be massive changes to the program by democratic and republican administrations but neither will flat out cancel the program. Too many vested interests involved. People who couldn't get health care before will now get it and they will scream bloody murder if someone tries to take it away. The insurance industry will never allow the ACA to go away as it is a cash cow for them. By 2016 any politician who talks about the ACA will be talking how to fix it rather than how to dismantle it.
I totally disagree ... as the old saying goes, it's only too late if you don't start now. But I do agree that it would take a massive public effort ... forget the politicians ... they're owned by those vested interests you mentioned. Relying on them to do the right thing is why we are in such a fix right now ... on all fronts ... not just healthcare.

On another point ... many people will not magically gain coverage that didn't have it before. Right now, we're seeing about 6,000,000 lost coverage, with less than a half million enrolled. Others are seeing as much as 500% increases in premiums. This disastrous program hasn't hardly begun, and the system is going into cardiac arrest. Just wait ... it's going to literally impload, and collapse under it's own weight, and public outrage (even the most staunch liberal obama supporters are going to do one of two thingd ... 1) wake up to the truth that they've been had .. or 2) blame the republicans (like total dolts) for not supporting universal coverage, insisting that they never wanted this 'compromise plan'.

Heck, I've already heard liberals barking that tune, and it's such an asinine response, given that the opponents of this assault on the American people predicted exactly what we're seeing.

The reason we're against it is the same reason you should be!!! To desire government run healthcare across the board, you have to ignore the fact that the current mess is some aberation, when it is precisely what government controllef programs ALWAYS produce. Medicare is so rife with fraud, it alone should be enough to convince you that to turn the entire system into a larger modal of the same is pure insanity. Wanna guess what the worst health coverage is? The VA system ... that is totally run by government ... it's an unmitigated disaster and a disgrace, and that is EXACTLY what liberals are demanding for everyone!! This is "Twilight Zone" craziness, whick eludes rational explanation.

Republicans are fighting a loosing battle to completely rescind the ACA. They need to regroup, acknowledge the ACA and then step in as the saviors with amendments and fixes that will bring it more in line with the middle way.
I believe that when the full impact of this nightmare leave no one undamaged, it won't be safe to openly admit you are a liberal in this country, and democrats and mainstream republicans will be seen for what they are .. two sides of the same coin, and betrayers of the people.

What ObamaCare may ultimately represent is the figurative first shot fired at Lexington, and a political revolution will unfold, that has been way too tardy. Tea Party (real ones) conservatives and libertarians are going to emerge the winners here, and you can bet your last dollar that these establishment crooks really do fear this day ... that's why there has been such a rapid roll out of the police state, and the feverish pushing for more gun control.

You're a pretty smart fellow ... time for you and others to stop turning a blind eye to what is actually happening, and realize you've been sold a bill of goods. The truth is, leftist policies are all a lot of false promises that deliver the exact opposite ... obamaCare is a PERFECT EXAMPLE.

Raise the age for children to stay on their family policy to 25 and have an employer mandate for insurance for those 25 to 55. Keep Medicaid for the truly poor and at the base line poverty level. Create a private insurance pool for those who are unemployed between 25 and 55. Those who were in the pool would be required to sign up for the insurance and if they couldn't pay the premiums or the medical bills, the government would pay them but the individual would be responsible for repayment, similar to a student loan.

The above plan is a middle of the road compromise between total private insurance and socialized/subsidized health care. Both sides would have been unhappy with the deal, which is the way it should be. That's how I would have done it.
No plan has a snowball's chance in hell to produce what people will ultimately embrace as good, without a full restructuring/repairing of the healthcare delivery end. That's where the problem resides ... continuing to focus entirely on who pays for this outrage of a system that costs more per capita than any other country in the world, while the nation's people are getting sicker, and leading the wester world in cancers, heat disease and chronic illness, will fix nothing.

Our problem isn't that we need to pay more .. our problem is what we are getting for the money we pay now.

The sad answer to that question is ... we're getting sicker and broker, and adding more victims to the pool won't change that at all ... it's only going to make it worse.

The progressives think all the president needs to do is sign an executive order and do whatever he likes, apparently he could just wake up one morning and decide to take our 401Ks. Laws are no longer laws any more, the president has more power then even King George had, prior to the revolutionary war.
