Simply dreadful.

Quote:
One of the most startling statistics, prompting groans from meeting attendees, was that only three students of all those in high school who took the SAT in 2013 tested as college-ready as defined by the College Board.

Rouhanifard called that number a "kick-in-the-stomach moment."

"It is OK if all of our students don't end up with a four-year diploma. There are two-year associates out there, vocational opportunities, multiple pathways to success in life, and I deeply believe that," he said.

"But we can do better than three students. We know we can do better than just three students. We know we have to do better than three students."

Have you been to Camden? Not the best environment for kids to grow up in.

Harrier presumes that you think that NYC is well run.

This thread isn't about NYC, it is about Camden.

Let's stay on topic.

I know what this topic about, I just don't get the whole "it's run by liberals" garbage Harrier was saying, as if all liberal run cities are somehow bad. Also, NYC is a money making city and it is a liberal city, so not all liberal cities are alike, just like not all conservative cities are alike.

With so much federal government regulation, it isn't easy to make the necessary changes quickly. Some changes can't be made at all without changes to the federal regulations. Start by allowing teachers and schools to begin holding poorly performing students beginning in elementary school. The main focus in elementary school should be reading and basic math. All students should be able to read at a typical third grade level before moving on up to fourth grade. What's the point in trying to teach history, science, etc if the students can't read the lesson? If students misbehave regularly, get them out the class room. If they commit crimes in school, expel them from school.

NYC will always survive no matter who/what is running the place.

Camden is dangerous and trashy. Always BEEN run by liberals, b/c they know they can't fix what's been generationally broken, so it's easy. Get a leg up on the political career and placate/pretend/kiss a few hundred babies who don't know who or where their daddies are, fundraise for a "your parents suck, so spend your free time here" community center for kids.....you're good! Just might be the next POTUS.
