It's almost certainly going to be appealed, and stayed, anyway.

I wonder what happens to them as change and time move forward.
History is written by the victor. It's why we have Columbus day, a day celebrating a man who got lost, slaughtered some natives, and set up a slave trade route. Imagine if Nazi Germany had one? Would Hitler have been a hero?

The anti-gay rights groups are diminishing, which is good. Secular nations have historically been more successful than heavily religious ones. But they don't go away. There are still people who believe black people are inferior. In a few decades when homosexuality is no longer condemned (in this country, Europe's way ahead of us), there will still be the fundamentalist religious people trying to cling on to their outdated views.

I'm glad courts are beginning to see that there is no argument against gay marriage. No one's religion is being censored. No one is getting hurt.

From the perspective of morality, this was certainly a good move!

State by state, like dominoes falling, the injustice of marriage inequality is falling on the wayside. In time the Federal government will have to step in and make marriage equality universal as it did with stopping all bans against interracial marriage.

On the grounds that Republicans, and especially Mormon Republicans, don't think gays should be allowed to enjoy the same basic civil rights as everyone else. Never mind that the "gays are icky" argument, which is really all they have, has been struck down by multiple courts at all levels, including the Supreme.

I can think of a few bigots on this forum who won't be sleeping well tonight. To them it's clear: The End is near and we're all going to hell.

Congrats to Utah and its residents for embracing freedom.
