So, in response to a criticism of you speaking in platitudes, you try new ones.

Again, try answering the question.

The middle class, as defined in America from post WWII to 2000 is dead and it's never coming back. The idea that someone can graduate high school and go to a union factory making middle class wages and retire with a secure pension is gone. Those jobs have either been automated out of existence or have been shipped overseas. Those blue collar jobs that built the middle class in America just don't exist anymore.

The problem is the workforce hasn't caught up fully to the changes and people are still in denial about it. People keep trying to make outdated information and career choices fit into the new economic paradigm. Middle income jobs will probably come from the healthcare industry, police/law enforcement work, Firefighter/EMT jobs, the teaching profession, and retail management jobs. These jobs require different skill sets and educational levels and the workforce is still adapting to these changes.

These days I would say look to Japan in the post War period:

The Reckoning: David Halberstam: 9780688048389: Amazon.com: Books

And what China will need to do this next generation:

Avoiding the Fall: China's Economic Restructuring: Michael Pettis: 9780870034077: Amazon.com: Books

It takes a large population segment that has the desire and means to strive upward. And it takes a Gov't that provides for and supports that transition. Mainly by the supports of directed policy and money.

The poor never make it want it. The rich don't need necessarily need it.

Power to the people, the people have to understand how to take the power. How to control their own money system, their own supports, and their own Gov't. Our middle class today is simply stupid and failing.

This is all so correct! And it has to be the people, meaning our middle class people, that have to take control of their own destiny. And if that middle class doesn't understand that they need more central supports through our Gov't and our money system, they/we don't deserve to move into this century as the worlds leader. Instead they/we will let China take over. Because China understands the power and the glory of the fiat. And in China it doesn't take a broad middle class of voters. China only needs a small central command that understands and wants China on top.

We liberals have in no way have attempted to end the lower classes. That simply isn't possible, there is not a path to that happening in this country or any other country. We believe in a strong middle class, and ways and means to pull yourself up the ladder into the middle class. We do believe in helping the elderly, sick, children, the disabled and to provide the basics our country has believed in for decades, education and health and the ability to retire when our bodies give out. To go from middle class, either the lower working middle class, or the double income upper middle class is entirely up to the individual. No one needs to bail out the middle class, only keep things equitable with living wages and jobs. Why would you be against such simplicity. Are you so wealthy you think you owe nothing to the world you live in?

What would be the point of "wanting" to have skyrocketing national debt? How does that help him in any way? You do realize debt has gone Down with him at the helm? "They" have been spending money like the insane since Reagan was in office, what's new? It is the wealthy that own, control and run this country. It has nothing to do with Obama. It could be the tin man, for all the difference it would make.

See, I thought you'd have no answer at all. You didn't. Your thoughts on this, are that government policies are some kind of mysterious black box, that you poke this in one end, and out pops the desired end game.

Some days I give up hope that there's more than a handful of people left who actually think. Why not try to be one? Try answering the questions...

How does the middle class get to be "middle class"? How does it maintain that status? What separates it from "rich" and from "poor"?

Give it another shot. Think, this time.
