Funny that Americans are mean and greedy yet the most giving people in the world....Most of it faith based.

Just another little pesky fact to get in the way of how leftists feel.

Of course in a lot of other nations charity is government sponsored, making it easier on the people of those nations to feel good about things without actually doing anything.

Also if you take a close look at the Irish system, you will discover that quite a few people have.......private health insurance.

Why would someone have the added expense if the government run system was so good?

And I would have thought my use of the term 'free' healthcare would have been obvious to all, especially considering it was followed with an explanation.

Perhaps I expect too much.

It is somewhat amusing that the naysayers ALWAYS seem to forget, or ignore, the point you made above -

I wonder why that is?

'Leftist logic'....little to no connection to reality.

Makes their lives easier to simply believe in spite of the facts rather than because of the facts.

I never forget about private generosity. I love that about our country. I'm one of those guys giving my time and money as often as I can. I just don't know why we can't have a more compassionate system built-in.

How many persons on this board think it's a good idea that you might have to declare bankruptcy to overcome the costs incurred to recover from a catastrophic auto accident caused by a driver with no insurance?

Even if what you say is true, those monies are still NOT ENOUGH to address the national needs.

Because it is no longer compassionate, when you FORCE people to give it is no longer giving...

How do you know, you do not even know if it is true....the figure is $300 BILLION a year by the way.

Also IF people were not FORCED to 'give', perhaps they would give more?

Are you for real? You are an example of the reason the present system is on its last legs. Get ready for a change!

Also, everyone knows there are annual and lifetime maximums for these coverages. Good luck and hope you don't hit the lottery.
