I don't care if they're religious or not, them being liberal and pushing their "ideals" and saying FU to anyone who disagrees with them (48% the state) and having absolutely no intent to represent EVERYONE, that is a much bigger problem than their religion or lack of.
They don't see anything wrong with pushing an agenda completely opposed to 1/2 the state.
The only criteria that matters to me is that my representative uphold the oath he or she takes when sworn in. You know, the one that says "I will protect and defend the constitution of the United States". If my representative works to the best of his ability to defend the constitution and to adhere to it, I am happy. Their religion or lack there of makes no difference to me.
I'll pose this question to the atheists out there. Would you rather have your elected representative be a Christian or a Satanist? Would it matter to you?
I do not care what they are as long as (1) we don't have to hear about it at all (2) they separate religion from their politics (3) they aren't spending taxpayer money on prayer breakfasts. I also think it would be great if they all stopped saying God Bless America like the entire nation just sneezed--it's become a meaningless phrase. It would be really refreshing if this country had a more inclusive environment and religion ironically is very divisive when mixed with politics.
Being a politician and being very religious I think is a recipe for disaster. Race nor religion should play a role in politics , keep it at the churches.
Yes; I could not vote for someone who actually campaigned on secular basis of belief.
