Families planning trips to one of Disney’s theme parks can now get waterproof rubber wristbands embedded with computer chips in lieu of paper tickets. When scanned, the bands can act as a park entry ticket, a FastPass, a hotel room key and a credit card. The “Magic Bands” — which are currently optional — are part of a new MyMagic+ “vacation management system” that can track guests as they move throughout the park.
They don't need wristbands to track anyone in the park. Every square inch of the park is covered by camera surveillance. The security area in the under city of the Florida park is amazing.
It's a private company that owns and operates the park. They have a say in what goes on in the park. Nothing prevents them from operating their business like this. If you don't want to use it, firstly it is optional, and secondly don't go to Disney Land. It's very simple, you don't need to visit Disney Land.
Awesome sauce. No more worrying about pieces of paper and electronic cards. It makes it easier to enjoy the park.
