The only AA I support is socio-economic based for college admissions. The sixth kid in a lower class white Appalachian family has more need than a privileged black kid from Atlanta whose parents are lawyers.
Too many white Academics, however, come from privilege and assume that all white people are similarly situated.
Veterans, too; with honorable discharges should be allowed AA.
You Irish could hide behind your white skin. Funny that you suggested that Roma do something similar to escape the stigma of their designation. Ironic, too.
It is what it is about the Roma. IF that's what it takes to leave the "Gypsy" world behind with its real bad rep; I'm def Ok with blowing off that heritage especially since most Gypsies are "East Indian" by their DNA and those Indians DO have a rep of working hard.

What sucks is that due to "rapidly changing demographics" many of us white guys grew up in mostly white communities where we didn't have this advantage during our dating years, but moved to more diverse places in adulthood where we still get to enjoy the hate from non-white guys who's girlfriends we didn't even get to steal in high school. Oh what fun.

I think the hate is more towards the so-called "traitors" in the minority groups.
I know Chinese men have some derogatory words for Chinese women who married white men. And usually Chinese men will not marry those who dated white guys before.
Black people do the same. Even Jewish women have that attitude.
Anyway, most white girls still don't give non-white men any chance. So white men are pretty safe.
The average American is not interested in this movement toward Tribalism.
Affirmative Action is a divisive program that is not needed ore even wanted for the most part.

This "poor white male" but is really funny. I guess you cant call us coons any more so it upsets you because they way I see it this still remains a country owned by white men, run by white men, for the benefit of white men and their families.
Given that most minorities are way under represented in most executive/professional capacities I think that the white men who lost their jobs must understand that they were considered mediocre, but it is very hard to claim that white man don't command most of the upper tier best paying jobs in this country.
If we don't give people the benefit of the doubt when sharing stories from their own life then effectively none of us can share personal experiences here (this message board) which would make it markedly less interesting and informative.

To the extent that people endorse diversity programs (quotas are illegal, but you pretend not to know that) it is because their remains an old white male network that still feels more comfortable with its own. Guess what even Condi Rice supports diversity programs because it leads to people looking to potential hires that are outside of the pool that they would normally consider.
No rational person will want to be hired into a position that they didn't deserve because it just means that they will be set up to fail.

Veterans ARE included in federal diversity programs! Indeed in the post Iraq/Afghanistan period this is the group that the govt is doing the most outreach to!
