One year ago this month, President Obama announced that radical gun control was the top of his agenda for his second term. Although he failed to get any of the gun bans or government registrations passed on the federal level, he was successful in one area. His actions convinced millions of Americans to buy more firearms than any time in history. The FBI reported that it performed an astounding 21,093,273 background checks for the year ending Dec. 31, In fact, eight of the top 10 highest weeks ever for National Instant Background Check System (NICS) checks were in 2013 (the other two were during Dec. 2012.)
I bought the last gun that I needed and will never have to buy another again. Bought what is considered a assault weapon by the left. I jumped on a special deal on a medium quality AR-15 that holds a 20 clip and on a mail in rebate will get a extra clip and 40 bullets. All that for a low price of 625 bucks
I'm not surprised that gun sales are through the roof. There are a lot of dumb, fearful people in this country. If they are comforted by having a gun (or guns), that's cool.

That's a pretty big generalization to call all 21 million people dumb.
Not everyone who buys a gun is buying for self defense purposes. Many buy for hunting, some for competition, some are collectors, some just like to put holes in paper.

A lot of dumb, fearful people terrified of people exercising their rights.

Whoop whoop, bang bang. In other words, no one really cares that gunmakers made a large profit of gun and ammo sales in 2013 out of fearmongering...except scared right wingers

True. Maybe gun control advocates could stop instilling fear and emotion to the country that we need "universal background checks".
Obamas definition of "gun control" has mostly been very rational ideas. you know, background checks and the like. pretty boring stuff that gets blown way out of proportion. Its like saying "we're adding this sign to the pool saying "dont drink the pool water"" and having the right scream "OMG they're trying to control your water, its a death panel! if you disagree with them they will kill you by withdrawing your access to water! Buy bottled water now while you still can!"
And suddenly bottled water sales skyrocket, while the guys putting up the "dont drink the pool water" are thinking "WTH? People pee in that pool!"
