First rule of reporting that has gone out the window for sensationalism... Verifying your sources!
They are all guilty of it. Some more so than others.
a cursory reading of the blogger and the 'admission,' suggests to me that this isn't the conspiracy that OP and other libs make it out to be. Basically none of the report was proven to be untrue, just that the newspaper failed to check the background of those interviewed and report their findings.
OTOH as the paper says:
So the same accusation that the blogger made could be turned around and pointed at herself.
Even if you wish to discount these claims from tea party types, there are plenty of similar tales from Obama supporters and Democrats of similar experiences. Are they in on the conspiracy too?
Even that story which you cite about the Federal Way woman has at least partially been debunked. Remember a lot of people werent insurable before. Now she and her son can get insurance for about $300 per month.
Did none of your previous policies cover maternity care?
I think he's under the mistaken impression that because he never used maternity care (i.e., he never saw it on any of his itemized bills) that his group insurance didn't cover it for anyone else who happened to be in his group. It must have been a group that was comprised 100 percent of males. Just like I'm sure the all women groups don't cover prostate cancer...

Most group plans did but it also depended on the state you live in. In Washington state for example I am pretty sure it was covered. They also had the same rates for women as for men. States that allowed different rates for men probably didnt have maternity. Young men end up paying more under the ACA while older women are paying the same or less.

Back in November the Dallas Star- Telegram ran a story about how four people lost their insurance and how their new rates were going through the roof or they couldnt get throught the exchange. Three of the four who were complaining about the ACA were full fledged Tea Party members. It turned out they either hadnt tried to get insurance throught the exchange or were lying about the cost. One of them, Whitney Johnson had her story picked up by Sean Hannity.
when you ask for an itemized bill, meaning what am I paying for when I pay my bill. maternity costs were never in them, nor was OB/GYN.
as far as my bill went, and the policy I got then before aca/obamacare, maternity and OB/GYN was never in the policies.
None of the policies you've ever purchased covered maternity care???
I'm not sure, then, what your policies actually cover. But my policies have always been through my employer, and they covered lots of things I didn't use. They covered flu shots, even though I've never gotten one. They covered emergency room services, even though I've never visited an emergency room. They covered X-rays and setting broken bones, even though I've never broken a bone in my life. They covered pap smears and prostate exams and colonoscopies. Never had any of these. They covered referrals to specialists. Never been.
And I'm like the millions and millions of people whose insurance policies were very similar to mine, pre-ACA.
