I was watching 'All In With Chris Hayes' today on MSNBC. He had Maria Shriver on and they were talking about the War On Poverty and how the face of poverty was represented by mostly women. The thing I noticed is that it seemed like in most of the pictures of poor women that were shown the majority of these poor women were fat or over-weight. Why is that? Why are there so many fat poor women in America?
There's a lot of rich people that are fat as well. I'd agree that there are more fat poor people, but there are also a lot of fat rich people.
A lot of it relates to behavioral issues. Carelessness is a behavior transcends across several aspects of life. It can be the very reason why they are poor... and it can be the very reason why they are fat.
The same reason there are so many fat poor MEN all over the world not just America.
I would like to know why there are so many people who like to bash women all the time.
There are males and females that do the same things, dress the same, have the same attitude, etc etc.
Being human and without perfection as required by other humans who are so much better than everyone else is not limited to the female gender of the species.

Maria Shriver was highlighting women as the face of poverty in America. So I'm going by the pictures of poor women they were showing. Even the woman they invited on to talk about her struggles was over-weight.
Carbohydrates. Food like pasta, potatoes, rice, and fast food are all loaded with carbs, and carbohydrates turn into sugars during digestion. Sugar turns into fat. Carbs are very cheap food and are filling. They are also very easy to prepare.
A steady diet heavy in carbs is also addictive, as the sugars that don't turn to fat burn off quickly, so the person goes from a sugar high to a sugar crash constantly. The crash leaves a person wanting more carbs.
This is why so many poor people also develop diabetes and heart problems. Carbs are essential, but too many are very bad for the health.
People in low income levels usually live in areas where access to fresh vegetables and fruits is difficult. Usually, the closest thing to a grocery store is a place selling highly processed food, canned foods, and generally foods with a LONG shelf life, which does not bode well for a healthy diet.
