If they aren't eating why not hang out at the library reading room area. The seats are probably more comfortable.

It is pretty sad that these old people only have the "McDonald's option".
Read the article - there are many other local options for these Korean seniors. Maybe this McDonalds has a lucky street number or good feng shui.

Default A NYC McDonalds battles with seniors who sit and sit and sit..

I've seen others do the same thing, it's ok if there is plenty of room but when you cause the business to loose customers then you've taken it to far.

Isn't there an enclosed mall with a foodcourt that these people, old timers like me can go to? Alot of us older folks hang at the Ashland Mall in Kentucky some even speed walk around to get exercise its safer than on the streets or parks.Mainly we do it because of boredom and loneliness...leave us old folks alone.

There are plenty of senior centers in the neighborhood, according to the article. Maybe they don't want to be surrounded by people their own age.

They're risking losing business because there's nowhere for other paying customers to sit. McDonald's isn't a senior center; they should find a new place to hang out.

Believe it.

As the article says, they sit and reminisce about the old country. For HOURS. I'm suspicious that this situation might also have something to do with the fact that this McDonald's is heated, and perhaps their homes are not.
