I live in Lafayette, Louisiana. We still have snow and ice from the sleet & snow late last night. Several accidents, road closures, and all area schools closed. We just don't have the machines for such weather and no one has winter tires here. Tire stores doesn't even keep winter tires in stock. Have to head to work at the hospital tonight. It's very rare for us to get such cold and snow.

Nobody is denying anything. Man-made climate change is a made-up issue to help the government distribute wealth to address "growing income inequality". That's why the left is pushing for it.

Because if we listened to Al Gore and let him do his carbon trading on Wall Street the south wouldn't have had these winter storms.
Global warming/global cooling would have been solved if we allowed Al Gore and his software company along with Goldman Sachs to trade carbon credits on Wall Street.
I lived in Miami in 1977 when it snowed ... in Miami. That's a lot further south than Louisiana.
I agree with you. It's like us bitching when it's 95 in the summer here in the northeast. It isn't the norm but it isn't exactly the sky is falling earth shattering news either.

Finally back home. For safety (and for the first time in the history of our 50 year old hospital), employees were required to stay at the hospital for more than 24 hours. Some remained for more than 48 hours because of the ice on the roads near where they live. While northern cities are use to such weather, southern cities aren't. The amount of ice on roads we had would have been a quick and easy salt job for northern cities and roads open for traffic. Road ice is so rare that many southern cities don't even own salting vehicles. We had sections of Interstate 10 and 49 shut down completely. Big rigs were parking overnight where ever they could, including on the sides of state highways. All area truck stops were filled to capacity. Even had some parking on vacant land for sale. Some homes here were built raised above ground for cooling or flooding. For some of these homes, the light insulation placed over water pipes weren't enough for the long time the air spent below freezing. Hospital staff had to get creative to find places to sleep. Air mattresses and folding cots were taken out of storage. Some sleeping areas included waiting areas, medical library, meeting rooms, and some areas currently not being used. My department was put up in the medical office building next door to the hospital in an office area currently vacant. This amount of freeze showed us which heaters were not working (including the room I slept in). Our department has a lot of work to do now that all the problems have been discovered with this hard freeze. High temperatures and humidity,...our hospital can handle that. Long time with below freezing temperatures,...that stresses our system more and we struggle to keep the hospital warm and comfortable. We've slept over at the hospital before, but only for summer hurricanes. I prefer dealing with a hurricane than several days of below freezing temperatures.
Maybe there's something to that mini ice age thing.
