The economic fact about the minimum wage is American history after the introduction of the minimum wage.

That history doesn't fit the lies of anti-minimum wage zealots, and so those zealots end up doing a lot of waste of time discussion and pretending and explaining how the minimum wage didn't do this or that despite history.

It is pathetic really.
They want to take us back to the Gilded Age. That's all there really is to it.

Of course, its not like millions of well paying jobs in manufacturing simply left for China lol

No, you want unfettered corporatism and an almost non-existent middle class.

Do you actually come up with this stuff on your own? Did you expect any American to work for 25c an hour like in China?

Then explain why virtually the entire current GOP agenda is bent to that goal? Oh wait, we don't actually want to talk about that...

It is truly amazing. There is an economic argument to be against the minimum wage. There are studies that point to a slight decrease in employment, but again there are other studies that say there is no loss of jobs.

In other words, the debate about the minimum wage is technocratic choice maybe between higher pay for some with slight job losses or no job losses and maybe fewer teens work etc.

But in these discussions, with these zealots, thats not what they want to discuss, because they are flat out against the idea of a minimum wage period. They are flat out against the government using its power to help people other than the wealthy and powerful. That's what the debate is all about.

Yet it is a losing argument politically. It is an argument that lost a long time ago.

Yet here are conservatives over 70yrs later still lying and pretending over the minimum wage. It is pathetic.

Of course it's not like there is a shortage of trained welders to fill hundreds of thousands of open positions - oh that's right THERE IS! Clearly there is a shortage of people willing to get training for those jobs, it's not as if someone who was in manufacturing wouldn't be able to become a welder.

Shortage of welders sparks interest in training
http://careerbear.com/welder/article...o-welders-make
Welder I Salary | Salary.com

"The median expected salary for a typical Welder I in the United States is $35,433." That's entry level for a trained welder, apparently $17 / hour isn't enough for those people to get off their ass and get some training. You'd think out of "millions" of people who used to be in manufacturing there would be more than enough to fill every welding position in the country if they were really willing to work.
