But businesses would respond to that by jacking prices up!
Have you tried to rent an apt in Seattle recently? MW goes up, and rent goes up with it. And why not? If they move the market as a block, then you can't do anything about it...
And we're back to square one where people don't make enough to support themselves..
More demand will create more housing, limiting the demand is not a good way to control prices.
Oh I very well get it, I find your theories completely laughable

All of a sudden our lives depend on fast food? Do you mean people will eat less fast food? Good for them.
They should cook in the house, its healthier and cheaper, not coincidentally the lowest income brackets have the most of the obese population.
the price of EVERYTHING goes up, not just Big Macs Even taxes as you just noted in the case of a teachers salary needing to be raised.. And this affects EVERYONE..
How does it increase the cost of living? From your skewed perspective nobody should ever try to advance as his or her higher salary may increase his "cost of living"

I am not surprised. I have seen people that would laugh at anything.

"Everything goes up, taxes needs to be raised" Sodom and Gomorrah . And still as somebody pointed out Australia has a $16 minimum wage and %5 unemployment rate. Lol
That's the first thing they teach you in Econ 101, but thankfully that oversimplified model doesn't represent reality. It tells you that if labor costs are doubled (say, at a restaurant), then the restaurant will have to fire half of its employees if they want to stay economically competitive. If you're not 18 years old, this sounds absurd.
I think $12 would be a good starting point for an American minimum wage.
The problem with liberals is they can't see for every action there is a resulting reaction. They can't see that every time government sticks its fingers in something eventually, sooner than not, it causes a problem. Don't believe me? Look at the housing crash, look at how much it cost to go to college.
Then they have to increase wages for someone who is educated and getting paid $12 hr. And then why would they bother going to school. They will just work a minimum wage job. Then there would be more competition for those minimum wage jobs and less people will get jobs.
Minimum wage jobs were meant for people just starting out.

High school economics lol
We arent discussing people tryign to advance their own salaries, we're discussing artificially increasing salaries without receiving anything of benefit in return for it..

And their cost of living is 30% higher than ours, with a 10% LESS disposable income..
So your solution that people dont have enough money, is to raise their salaries but decrease their disposable income.
How does that help?
