Raise it to $15/hour and I'll even go and apply at McD's because it would pay more then substitute teaching with much less stress.

You fail to take into account that your salary will increase, too. A rising tide lifts all boats

Mining workers get paid about $100,000 AUD and mining makes up a significant part of Australia's economy. In fact, mining is attributed to Australia staving off the world depression, and it feeds local economies.
I disagree and live in areas where the food processors prefer illegals over us citizens.
Even after an ICE raid these citizens can't get jobs there..they go back to more illegals.

LOL..I'm retired and what I make is my slush fund.
If anything a higher mandated min wage will get managers hiring folks who won't leave at the drop of a hat.

How do you know that employers there explicitly prefer illegals over Americans? Have you talked with the managers there? Somehow this sounds like a tall tale. The fact is, no matter what you think, more Americans do not prefer working jobs like that while having low pay. The "market" is demanding more pay, the employers are artificially denying that by employing illegals.

YOU are increasing the cost of my Happy Meal and I am not going to stand for it... I just won't eat your crappy burger and you'll get laid off... But... I will still have my job, and will keep the raise I got from the increase in minimum wage...

A right wing fringe group that used to refer to itself as a "think tank" supports right wing fringe economic policy.

Who ever would have guessed?

I'll counter his think tank report with my own think tank report. Not that anyone is going to read it, it's 30 pages

If they have to pay him $10, then why should they pay for that job at all?

We seem to be suffering from an outbreak of "The-purpose-of-jobs-is-to-provide-workers-a-living" malady. It is most common among persons who don't have the responsibility of meeting a payroll. When sufficiently widespread, it results in company closures and mass layoffs, and should be ruthlessly rooted out wherever found.
Why shouldn't it provide a living wage? Do not most companies that employ middle class workers profit even though they pay much more then min wage? So why can't businesses that employ min wage workers make profits? Why do we let them off the hook that they can't pay more?

Yeah…ok. It's all made up.
The chicken processors only think they are hiring US citizens and have a preference for Mexicans.
The folks around here are all lying when they told me that none of them or their families work there anymore.

I beg to differ. Those with a HS diploma or GED that live rural WOULD work there if they could be hired.

Low pay ? Those working in the processing plants are making $10/hour.

Geeze you're so gullible to believe everything the MSM is feeding you.

Tyson was involved with smuggling illegals into the US to work in their plants.
