I'm pretty sure it was Reagan that set that trend into motion.

What the hell makes you think that this is all the work of Obama.. Seriously.. we live paycheck to paycheck because we consume too much.. more than we make and we purchase everything on credit.

Not only that.. but wages have stagnated for just about all of us given the rate of inflation - this started DECADES ago.

We also LOST JOBS that are never coming back and if they do, will come back slowly.

You people are really freaking lunatics!

Obama's actions are a REACTION to the state of the middle class today. Extending unemployment doesn't make unemployment last longer.. it keeps families that can't find work from starving, loosing their homes, etc. EVen then, it doesn't.. it's a fraction of what they USED to make. More people on food stamps is a testament to the fact that wages are decreasing and people are having trouble finding meaningful or fruitful work.

Got to love the mantra people say to those that are working middle wages " well get a better job"...umm.. yeah.. there are people with higher qualifications UNABLE To get that "better job" taking minimum wage jobs.. perhaps if we all put on Ruby slippers and click our heels three times and say "there's no job like a high paying job" .. we'll all have one!

Geez..

My pipe keeps backing up at my house - must be Obama's fault.

For the group of "personaly responsibility" it sure seems like you want to blame Obama and the government for everything that isn't right in your life but take credit for all that is.. kind of ridiculous.

And where does that article say it's Obama's fault?

EDIT: The comments on that article are absurd and sad.

Do you have an article that blames Bush for Americans' lack of personal savings you'd like to share?

So are you saying that Reagan was the reason for setting America on the wrong track because he believed in the following:

“Extreme taxation, excessive controls, oppressive government competition with business, frustrated minorities and forgotten Americans are not the products of free enterprise. They are the residue of centralized bureaucracy, of government by a self-anointed elite.”

Under Reagan, rents necessarily skyrocketed.
