The EPA should not be running as an independent legislative body, all the EPA should do is offer advise and monitor, not make law, not write their own regulations, not set fines, penalties. Only the US Congress should write law, not bureaucrats at the EPA.
It's not just the EPA, it's the entire administrative state that has been created. Congress needs to reclaim their authority and stop allowing agencies like the EPA and HHS to essentially write their own laws thru federal regulations.
tell that to the people in charleston, wv
anyway, i find it interesting how people in certain industries -- polluting industries -- feel that it ought to be perfectly legal to discharge their waste products into the public air and water, putting people's health at risk, so they can make a profit.
i would be perfectly happy taxing and regulating them into oblivion. their right to operate stops where the public air and water begins.
Just wait...Gas will get more exensive. A large portion of the country us NG for heating and when it's cold like this year has been energy producers get curtailed from NG usage.....We have burned @ 140,000 gallons of nice clean diesel fuel this month making electricity because there wasn't enough gas to heat the upper midwest AND keep the lights on........
Once Obama the his EPA kills coal he will move against natural gas power plants. Does anyone think the EPA will not move to against natural gas-fired power plants for their greenhouse gas emissions?

Go ahead, force all the coal and natural gas power plants to close for producing greenhouse gases, just don't come crying when you have no electricity and it's 10 degrees outside.

It'll be hard to go back on NG after the first wave of "it's so great". They are however already attacking the gas extraction process. SO they'll drive the cost up through the back door......

the market for electricity is inelastic; in other words, people are going to keep paying for it even if it rises in cost.
electric companies won't go out of business, they will just raise prices for their electricity.

that assumes they have the money to pay for that electricity. remember if you kill the coal and natural gas electric infrastructure, you kill jobs, and when you kill jobs people wont have the money to buy the electricity that is being produced by other methods due to the cost.
also remember that some areas of the country wont be able to replace shut down coal and natural gas power plants anytime soon, so there will be power outages and brown outs as part of the normal course of events. and because coal and natural gas plants produce a substantial portion of the electricity in this country, the outages and brown out will be quite widespread.

too bad. that still doesn't give them the right to pollute the public air and water, or put the public's health at risk.
i must've missed where the constitution outlines the "right to burn coal" or the "right to cheap electricity"

as i have said many times before, i like clean air and water, and i agree with you, but to install massive amounts of regulations to kill an industry is the wrong thing to do. the right thing to do is find the polluters, and make an example of them individually. the regulations ARE ALREADY ON THE BOOKS TO DO THIS WITH. so if you want to blame anyone, blame the various administrations justice departments and the EPA for not going after the gross polluters in the first place. piling on regulations wont help until that actually happens.
the regulations ARE ALREADY ON THE BOOKS TO DO THIS WITH.
you realize the premise of this thread is to do away with said regulations, right?
